Now there is no question that liberal Democrat Congressmen, both House and Senate, when compared to their Republican counterparts, are bipartisan patriots who conduct themselves and make all their decisions based upon the unwavering integrity and high standards the Democrat party sets for them. They always, as the mainstream media has spent a considerable amount of time and money to point out to one and all, act in the best interests of this nation, and never allow politics to influence their decisions - very different from those right wing, extremist, hate filled Republicans, right?
So when, during the same time frame that their hero, Bubba Clinton, leader of the free world, and titular head of the Democrat party was rolling around on the Oval Office floor doing the nation's business with a young intern about the same age as his daughter Chelsea, those high-minded Congressional Democrats were too busy attacking Speaker Gingrich (of course, for the good of the country) to notice.
You'll recall that House Democrats, led by "Mad Dog" David Bonior, charged Newt with over 70 ethics violations, officially censured him, and fined him $300,000. for his sins. He had, they said, degraded the high standards of that "August" body. His offenses had to do with a college course he was teaching, and how it was being financed, horror of all horrors! They never noticed that their boss was financing his campaign selling top secret US missile technology to communist China, but what the hell, they were so busy with Newt, who had time?
I recall that Bonior, Frank, Gephardt, Owens & Co spent one entire day giving speeches from the well of the House. They called Newt every name in the book, an absolute devil incarnate sent to earth to destroy the free world. And don't try to tell me any different, I watched quite a bit of it on C-SPAN, because I was sick.
Just the other day, three years after the charges were first leveled, the IRS announced that since they had found nothing illegal, immoral, or even fattening in Newt's college course, or how it had been financed, they were closing the investigation. The newspapers that carried the story at all, and there were damn few that did, had it on page 46, in the society section, right where they knew most would miss it.
Since the other 70-odd charges had been thrown into the garbage pail long since, it now appears that the Democrats had been lying about the whole mess in the first place, not surprising in view of their leader's propensity for the practice.
Naturally, in keeping with the high ideals of the Democrat party, we can expect a full apology and a return of the $300,000. fine Newt had to borrow off Dole to pay, right? Knowing them by their track record, though, I'd hate to be hanging while I wait. Talk about scumbags! But with teachers like Clinton and his cronies, you can get very good at that sort of thing and very fast.
Liberals seem unable to understand why so many conservatives hate Clinton, and with such a visceral passion. I understand it completely, and as you have probably already guessed, I will now explain the phenomena.
The revulsion any individual with standards of their own feels for Clinton stems largely from the fact that he is a complete, unabashed, hypocrite with no shame or honor in him. His own depravity seems to amuse him more than anything else.
Who among us, caught red-handed by a semen stained dress, his use of cigars and a White House sink becoming public knowledge, would be able to face friends, neighbors, or family ever again? It doesn't faze him in the least. He even had the gall to attend church after an early morning tryst with Monica on Easter Sunday, then leave the church, Bible clutched in one hand and his arm around cuckold Hillary, smiling angelically for the TV cameras!
He takes Holy Communion in violation of all the principles of Catholicism, then blames the Priest for it! After celebrating his impeachment with a party on the White House lawn, when asked how it felt to be the first elected president in history to be impeached, he replies "not bad, not bad at all."
Breaking into tears when the cameras turn on him after Ron (whose body has a bullet hole in it's skull) Brown's funeral, righting a flag in a US Military (which he loathes) Cemetery, making a memorial cross out of obviously planted stones on a French beach where so many sacrificed their lives for the country he himself refused to fight for - I could go on all day. Bottom line, the man is a thoroughly dislikable, world class hypocrite and a phony into the bargain. And that's why so many hate him so much.
A boyhood friend, author David Maraniss, did a piece in the NY Times several years ago. Maraniss said that Clinton was neither moral nor immoral - rather he was amoral. Maraniss went on to say that Clinton has a very peculiar outlook in that he does not even recognize that there is a difference between truth and lying, good or bad, honor or dishonor, good or evil - they were all the same to the man in the White House! I think that's a fine description.
I notice that Clinton often lies even when it serves no real purpose - not even to him. He seems to lie either just for the fun of it, or because he really believes his own lies, at least at the time he's telling them. Personally, I can't wait for the man from Hope, Arkansas (even that's a whopper, in point of fact he grew up in Hot Springs) to be gone. To quote Shakespeare, I say "Out damn spot" and the sooner, the better!
