The trouble with having a president who is, by his very nature, unable to tell the truth is that every word out of his mouth, even if true, is suspect. He, for example, claims that Slobo is driving ethnic Albanians from their homes and out of Kosovo. Most journalist, both here and abroad, support that claim. Probably just because Clinton says it, I don't believe it for a minute, and I'll tell you why.
First, when Hitler drove the Jews out of their homes and into the gas chambers, they were moved along by armed Nazi troops, right? You can, by watching old newsreels, see the jackbooted Germans all along the trail, rifles in hand and pointed at anyone who dared to even slow down on their fateful march into eternity.
But I have seen endless images of the hapless Albanians plodding along on their way out of Kosovo with their carts, mules, and wagons, and I have yet to see a single armed Serbian forcing them along. Why don't they just stop? Why don't they leave the caravan and head into the woods? Beats me.
I think they are leaving on their own, motivated by the hope for a better life in any one of the NATO countries. Quite a few have already achieved their objective too. I doubt a single one of the 20,000 the US has promised to take will ever go back to Yugoslavia, which is one of the poorest nations on the planet, with 35% unemployment-even before Milosevic came to power. What have they got to lose? I'm sure they feel that nothing could be worse than life as it now exists in Yugoslavia, and that was before the bombing made it even worse!
In addition, the convoy that Clinton's "gang who can't shoot straight" blew up was heading back into Kosovo, not out of it. How's that for ethnic cleansing?
My feeling is that Clinton, not Slobo, should be indicted for war crimes. He, allegedly, is hand picking the targets on a daily basis, and have we hit the Serbian military yet? According to foreign correspondents, the answer is no. We are blowing up water supplies, power stations, oil depots, and embassies, along with busses, trains, and hospitals. And who, then, are we harming? Innocent civilians, that's who, which is the very definition of "crimes against humanity." Even our own military men, if they dare to speak out, (remember, Clinton has issued several gag orders on the military) admit we have not, after two months of daily bombing, measurably affected the Serb military's ability to fight.
And aren't you sick of hearing, every morning of your life, how the NATO bombing attacks have intensified since the day before? Each day, Clinton's loving media describes the attacks as the "worst since the war began." By now, the leveling of Dresden during WW 2 seems like a firecracker going off in the middle of Germany.
How did you like Clinton's latest whopper? You know, the one where he claimed no one had ever told him about the Communist Chinese stealing nuclear and ballistic missile secrets from the US.
Sandy Berger, former lobbyist for Red China and now (how's this for a chuckle?) Clinton's National Security Advisor, among a host of others, has said otherwise-but no matter, the adoring press certainly isn't going to push the issue-after all, Bubba is a Democrat. The only liberal in the media who has demanded a full scale, Watergate type investigation into Chinagate is Mort Kondracke, and he's been promptly silenced by his beltway peers.
You know, on second thought, maybe Clinton is telling the truth. China didn't steal our secrets after all. The Clinton-Gore campaign and the Democrat National Committee sold them outright.
And just think, the Independent Counsel Law is about to expire. Without it, the only check on Clinton's activities will be Janet "the Giant" Reno-Parkinson's disease and all! She now blames her subordinates for dropping the football on Chinagate-how's that for "chutzpah?"
Bye.
