In 1945, the Office of Strategic Services (predecessor to the CIA) dropped a team into Indochina to find local assistance in attacking Japanese targets. Retired Major Rene Defourneaux was second in command of the Deer Team and here shares some of his recollections about two of the Vietnamese whom the team trained - Ho Chi Minh and Giap. Piracy off the Horn of Africa has increased in recent weeks. In the past few weeks Congress has held at least four hearings on this issue, with another scheduled for later this month. Mr. Tempest is currently an attorney specializing in maritime law.
