A reader of the Portland Press Herald who lives half of each year in Canada sent the paper a passionate letter last week in which he repeats many of the familiar arguments extolling Canadian health care and attacking the U.S. system.

AUGUSTA -- Supporters of federal health care reform marched Thursday through the streets of Augusta to urge Republican U.S. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins to vote for major change to the health care system....The rally and march were organized by Health Care For America Now!, which delivered more than 1,500 postcards to Snowe's Augusta office urging her to support a public option.

After reviewing the video clip of Chellie Pingree on Hardball last night, I think it's pretty clear that she is positioning herself to back away from her demand for a public option. This after she signed a letter telling the President that she would not support a bill unless it had a public option. I wonder how her 'progressive' supporters will feel about that?

WMTW is reporting that Chellie Pingree is meeting with the head Obamacare cheerleader in South Portland today:

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine -- Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will be in Maine Thursday morning.

She's taking part in a round table discussion in South Portland about women and health care reform.

It's hosted by the Maine Women's Lobby and AARP Maine.

The panel will also include Rep. Chellie Pingree.
