More Candidates in Maine!

A couple of more candidates have announced here in Maine:

For US Senate: Raymond Stankiewicz (Veterans) has filed paperwork to run

For US Congress - CD-1"

Dexter Kamiliewicz (D/Independent/Green)

and Dwayne Thomas (Veterans)

Anyone have any knowledge of these folks?

I learned about Dexter Kamiliewicz from the December 9 edition of Al Diamon's collumn "Politics and Other Mistakes." Kamiliewicz seems like the 2006 1st District peace activist version of Carl Cooley, the self-proclaimed socialist who challenged Mike Michaud for Congress in the 2nd District last year. According to Diamon, Kamiliewicz wrote an op-ed piece in some newspaper (presumably a Maine one) late last month in which he "attacked Allen for supporting, 'in virtual silence,' supplemental budget requests to finance the war."

Kamiliewicz has a son who is serving in Iraq and is upset that troops are forced to serve multiple tours of duties in the war zone. He supports at least a discussion (meaning, I believe, serious consideration if not adoption) on the part of Congress of reinstituting a military draft, and doesn't want conscription limited to men either. While addressing a peace rally outside BNAS in September, he said, "Women serve and die in Iraq, but George Bush['s] and Tom Allen's daughters do not serve in Iraq." I never imagined someone trying to tying Tom Allen to President George W. Bush, but I find it interesting how he tries to do it. Kamiliewicz has a web site address, http://dexterforcongress.com/ , that currently contains only the words "Coming Soon."

Bob Mills now has a web site for his campaign for Governor, which mentions Stankiewicz's and Thomas's candidacies (the person who let Politics1.com publisher Ron Gunzburger know about those two candidates was probably the same person who let him know about Bob Mills's web site (Politics1.com previously had a link to the Maine state party page of the U.S. Veterans Party web site, which did not even mention Mills as a candidate for Governor although he is mentioned as a candidate elsewhere on that site). I don't want to lose everything I've written so I'm going to finish this post and then post more if and when I find any information on Stankiewicz and Thomas besides their names and what they are running for.

Oh, I see you (MM) had created another thread discussing Tamboia's candidacy. Not a bad idea to have the link here as well though.

Agreed.

Hopefully he (Tamboia) will be able to get enough signatures to get on the ballot...I don't think people would be able spell his name correctly if they had to write it in.

I had to write it down just to get it spelled right for the thread
