#1. Work to Dispel Notion Libby's a Radical

LePage won big because the state is in a financial death-spiral, he needs to stick to his message of jobs and spending. His position on Creationism will be the least of our worries if the state goes bust, as it certainly will under Libby.
Do you really believe that we are the product of random, mindless particles bouncing around that just happened to come together to form US?
that's not the point. I won't belabor it.
Ah, so the FACT that intelligent design might be true has NO BEARING whether it should be taught in the classroom.
What important is the PC people incapable of thought - and how they tremble and become speechless when the issue comes up.
THAT'S what important.
OK, just as long as I know where you're coming from.
Rep. McKane:
Mr. LePage has already defined himself as a creationist. No one needed to do it for him.
He is. of course, welcome to dispute my statement, and I invite him to make a plain statement about it. There is really no middle ground on this subject.
Mr. LePage, do you think that the earth, the sun and our solar system, and the universe, and all the living things that populate it, were created as described in the Bible?
When asked before if he believed in creationism, he replied, "Yes." I'm not sure what there is to interpret.
Mr. LePage, do you think that the earth, the sun and our solar system, and the universe, and all the living things that populate it, were created as described in the Bible?
Gerald,
Since when is a theological test required of a state political candidate?
Had a conservative pulled a stunt like that, they would have been stoned in the town square. What special licence does a liberal have for such narrow-minded intolerance and bigotry?
Have you pinned down Libby Mitchell's theological beliefs? Perhaps she worships Satan, or the tree god Zog. Based on your line of questioning, these are legitimate issues to delve into.
I suppose I'll let you ask Paul specific questions about his theological beliefs when you have throughly examine Mitchell on the issue.
Rep. McKane:
By quoting this:
Do you really believe that we are the product of random, ...
You are quoting something that has been attributed to Paul LePage, but has yet to be confirmed to be a quote from Paul Lepage. I have asked Tom C where he found this "quote," and as of yet, he has refused to provide his source.
It's your call, of course, but I suggest you tread cautiously here.
What does Libby Mitchell believe? Does she beleive in creationism or an intellenet designer? Is she a pagan?
I'd advise the democrats to tread carefully here.
Nice try, Tom C.
LePage has stated that he believes in creationism, and that he thinks it should be taught in Maine's public schools (MPBN debate, 27 May 2010). Since there seems to be some question as to exactly what that means, I am offering him an opportunity to clarify exactly what "creationism" means to him.
There are some, for example, that believe that the earth is only 6,000 years old, and that dinosaurs never actually walked about, but that God created the fossils of them for us to find for reasons only known to Her.
Since Mr. LePage's beliefs might become part of the curriculum of the public schools of Maine, and thus impact thousands of Mainers, they are no longer personal views. They are public.
Since Mr. LePage's beliefs might become part of the curriculum of the public schools of Maine,
Oh, really? Explain to me how that might happen.
Oh, wait - that's NOT how it works?
Then why are YOU and the lie-brals LYING about it?
Running scared?
Does anyone think LePage is going to change K-12 lesson plans while unemployment skyrockets? Doubtful.
While I typically keep private messages private, Tom C felt compelled to send me a personal note, and I think you will understand why I post it.
Tom C writes:
You're a jackass Gerald.
Tom C is mistaken in believing that I care what he thinks about me.
Since Mr. LePage's beliefs might become part of the curriculum of the public schools of Maine, and thus impact thousands of Mainers, they are no longer personal views. They are public.
Mr. Weinart, When was the last time this occurred in Maine history, that a governor's personal religious belief's became part of the curriculum of local public schools?
Tom C writes:
Well I was going to post it publically, but decided against it. Thank you for saving me the trouble, friend. Although there is a protocol against posting PMs, I don't really mind that you broke it in this case.
Think of it as an affectionate term for "donkey," the mascot of the Democrat party.
lol.
The Distributist:
I, too, look forward to reading Mr. Weinart's response to your most excellent question.
Mr. Weinart, When was the last time this occurred in Maine history, that a governor's personal religious belief's became part of the curriculum of local public schools?
I said I wouldn't belabor it but here I go. The answer to your question - probably never. Next question: Is saying you want to teach creationism in public schools - even though you won't be able to - like leading with your chin against a guy with a wicked right cross? Yes.
When was the last time this occurred in Maine history, that a governor's personal religious belief's became part of the curriculum of local public schools?
Perhaps our very good friend, the studly stallion Mr. Wienand, might want to ask Ms. Mitchell if her views will work their way into the school curriculum? Her views on gay marriage? Religion - or lack of it? Is she going to continue to promote a secular agenda - or an agenda that looks unfairly at American history?
Will she want schools to teach about global warming? How about socialism - will she want the schools to cover up atrocities committed in communist Russia or China?
Why does Gerald demand these answers for Mr. LePage, but doesn't seem to want to bring them up with Ms. Mitchell?
Who is really the greater threat to the intellectual health of our children - the traditional values of Paul LePage, or the radical liberal agenda of Libby Mitchell?
Who is doing a better job with our kids - public schools - or Catholic schools? What would you want the Maine schools system to look like?
Next question: Is saying you want to teach creationism in public schools - even though you won't be able to - like leading with your chin against a guy with a wicked right cross? Yes.
So, our guys has to be 100% agreement with everyone - but the opponent has to be, what, 10% right? LePage is awesome on the fiscal issues. The fiscons couldn't ask for a better guy.
Hey, stick up for our guy. Creationism isn't the worst thing in the world. Your guy doesn't like it, so what? LePage is a good Catholic, and a humble servant. So he believes in God. How is that all of a sudden a BAD thing?
Gosh, if he believed in tree fairies that worshiped the earth godless Mydol he'd probably be elected Democrat head of the Senate or something.
The only creationism issue we should really care about is the creating of jobs. I don't care if LePage thinks the moon is made of green cheese if he can cut spending, cut taxes, reduce the bloated Maine blobocracy, and give us some of our freedom back. Nice try at spin , lefty loonies.
To quote Libby, " "I come down on the side of getting things done." To her getting things done means killing private sector jobs, stealing more of maine peoples money to spend how she wishes, increasing the size of government, increasing the numbers of Maine individuals and families dependent on the state, indoctrinating our children at every younger ages into socialist weenies. The same destructive policies of the last 30 plus years of demoncratic rule in Maine. Go Paul Lepage. A real businessman with real world experience. The guy has more experience than the person the lefty loons elected as POTUS, for God's sake. Ideology is all that matters to the left. GIVE ME MORE OF OTHER PEOPLES MONEY is their major mantra. Always has been , always will be.
OH yeah as far as creationism goes, it is no more far fetched than for us to be made to believe that in one instance there was nothing, neither space nor time, and in the next the whole universe sprang into being. God planted a seed. Nuff said.
Job creationism!
Yes!
McKane,
Maybe you could use some of your considerable talents to point out ways we can make Lefty Libby's radical agenda stick to her instead of continuing to tear down Paul LePage. The primary is over and your guy didn't win. If I didn't know better I'd think you were pulling for Libby to win in the general out of spite.
Mr. Redneck:
You might be onto something - if the moon were made of cheese, imagine the jobs that would be created building the rocket to get us there, and then the markets ready for such a product back home.
instead of continuing to tear down Paul LePage.
If I wanted to tear down Paul LePage, I would write an op-ed and put it in the BDN. At the very least, I would start a new thread on this topic. NOW HEAR THIS - I am bringing this forward because I want to see LePage elected. I am relaying to you what I am hearing "on the street." But I realize that you are going to continue to keep your fingers in your ears and jump up and down and yell, "I can't hear you , I can't hear you."
I, and most other Mainers, could give a rats ass about creationism. I don't care to know anything about it. What it is and what it isn't.
It's not important to me. I want to hear what both are going to do on fiscal issues. In case a few of you haven't got it, most people are concerned about their home, their job and having enough money to retire some day.
I think I am like most middle class, voting Mainers.
I, and most other Mainers, could give a rats ass about creationism
Just wondering Bob, how many Mainers do you speak for? How many is Most?
So that's a no on helping to figure out how to make the liberal label stick to Libby?
One, Robert, just one person.
Feel better?.
Feel better?.
I never felt bad. I was just wondering how you knew what most Mainers felt about the subject. I agree with Bob Emrich. We must not fear the D's. We must stand tall and take them head on.

Well, we need to deal with the issue. I don't think it is a big deal, but let's address it and get it out of the way. I think the reaction of people to the issue is more telling. Who can argue that there isn't an intellegent designer?
The PC crew brings it up, and we're supposed to stop thinking and make "tsk-tsk" sounds. I'd rather talk about something else, but if the enemy wants to make this an issue, bring it on. We'll rub their smug little noses in it.
But, yes, we want the discussion about taxes, spending and education.
