Olberman shouldn't be on anchor on any debate, his bias is so apparent, its pitiful.

Ron Paul will have more support after tonight then I could imagine, he will never get the nomination because the elite will crush him, but he is a fine example of what America should be.

He should run third party after the R nominate whomever

The problem with Dr. Paul running 3rd party is that he will take conservative votes away from whom ever the Republican nominee is. I don't believe he would do that.

I'm still praying for miricles :)

And the problem with conservative voters is that they don't vote conservative. They generally vote "not as liberal as." :(

PEGGY NOONAN

An Incomplete Field
First impressions of the GOP's 2008 candidates.

Friday, May 4, 2007

They stood earnestly in a row, combed, primped and prepped, as Nancy Reagan gazed up at them with courteous interest. But behind the hopeful candidates, a dwarfing shadow loomed, a shadow almost palpable in its power to remind Republicans of the days when men were men and the party was united. His power is only increased by his absence. But enough about Fred Thompson.

The Big Ten
Republicans debate in the shadow of greatness.
by Fred Barnes

REMEMBER THE FIRST or even the second or third debate among Republican presidential candidates in 2000? I don't, except George Bush's insistence--I think it was in Iowa--that Jesus Christ was the political philosopher who'd influenced him the most. Recall anything that happened in the endless Democratic presidential debates in 2004? I pretty much draw a blank there too.

This was a question in last nights debate posed to Senator Sam Brownback...

What will it be like if Roe v. Wade is overturned?

"Glorious day of human liberty and freedom"

Well Said Senator Brownback! wink

There won't be any, the elite will see to that. On the R frontrunners, it is apparent then other then all being members of the War Party, they are just Clinton Light.

The republicans don't have a snowballs chance of winning the national election on the War Party platform, there will be a democrat in the whitehouse in 2009.

This is a perfect time for a third party candidate such as a Ron Paul to run, who knows miracles might happen.

It's sad to watch the political and media process in America, it is obvious that Americans really have no choice in the direction of our country. We are only given the choice between Clinton or Bush, 15 million illegals or 25 million illegals, Chinese goods or Pakistani goods and that is no choice at all.

I would disagree witht that. My problem with Paul is simply with his isolationism....that is an idea that has proven disasterous. I personally found Brownback a refreshing surprise but, more importantly, I found Romney to be someone who I believe can take the dems to the woodshed next year. He is good on his feet and, at least yesterday, was saying all the right things.

On a related topic, while a lot of folk on a lot of forums are complaining about those two hacks, Mathews and Oldermann, I found them to be pretty good. It serves us poorly to have our candidates field puff questions from friendly folk now and then to face the pit bulls when ti counts.

I think the one who won last night was Huckabee with Romney a very close second.

McCain did okay however I was not too impressed. It sounded like the same old rhetoric.

Guilianni did not have a good night.

Hunter was also pretty good but did not stand out as much as I would have hoped.

Brownback and the others were terrible.

I disagree but I have already made that clear, I thought Brownback was towards the top especially when he spoke passionately about Terri Schivao and about abortion (Overturning Roe v. Wade) these are selling issues and the way he presented them though the Liberal media would never tell I thought was unique.

But he also threw in some good liners like the tax code should be taken outside and cut with a dull ax (Classic quote)

That said I am smart enough to know he did not come in 1st place but I wouldn't say he was terrible as you have...

But you are entitled to your own view.

This debate ought to be wonderful to listen to. All the lies on what they can do for the American people. One will lie and the other will cover up. It will be entertaining for sure

From hotlineblog.nationaljournal.com

The GOP debate was hardly a balanced affair, either in terms of questions asked, or airtime given. I has appalled at the abhorrent disrespect Chris Matthews showed to many of the candidates, with his little asides and chortles. He's a boob.

Candidate Questions Time
Mitt Romney 19 10 min 47 sec
Rudy Giuliani 17 8 min 19 sec
Sam Brownback 15 7 min 26 sec
Mike Huckabee 15 7 min 23 sec
Jim Gilmore 12 6 min 58 sec
Tom Tancredo 15 6 min 48 sec
Tommy Thompson 13 6 min 26 sec
Ron Paul 13 6 min 20 sec
John McCain 16 6 min 7 sec
Duncan Hunter 12 5 min 53 sec

Just as I tuned in, Chris Matthews asked "raise your hand if you don't believe in evolution." Three hands went up. I couldn't tell for sure which three candidates raised their hands. Looked like Brownback and Romney and some other indistinguishable walrus in a gray flannel suit. I could have sworn that a fourth candidate started to raise his hand but then put it back down.
That moment almost caused me to watch some more.
The owners of the government must get a kick out of candidates spending all their time on guns, queers, Christian fundamentalism and Reagan idolatry

Ron Paul Wins MSNBC Debate Poll
Ron Paul steps into national spotlight

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 4, 2007

ARLINGTON, VA – Congressman Ron Paul finished first in the MSNBC poll following the GOP primary debate last night held at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California. Dr. Paul received 43 percent, beating the second-place finisher by five points, and crushing the rest of the field.

"Last night, Americans met Ron Paul and loved what they heard," said Ron Paul 2008 campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "Dr. Paul's message of freedom and limited government resonates with Republicans hungry for a return to their party’s core values."

"Ron Paul is the only true conservative in the GOP race. Americans saw that last night," continued Snyder. "The campaign looks forward to further debates and opportunities so even more Americans will discover Dr. Paul's message of freedom, peace and prosperity."

Every candidate lays claim to this...

I don't look at Ron Paul as a conserative that I could support to strange on the war on terror.

If he wins the nomination I will look 3rd party or vote for the dem.

Ron Paul is not a conservative.

I don't say that as a slam. His ideology does not fit with the definition of conservatism in modern American politics.
