Ahhh Spider, to hell with Chicago how about the Maine issues that have been wholsalely ignored on AMG.

As far as embarassing this forum ( that is what it supposedly is ) it is becoming easy to really assign that to many posts.

Why tha hell would any mature maine adult give a rats ass about the opioid use in Washington county?....or anywhere else in this fine state with an increasing population of Libtards re-distributing the wealth of the working class with more failed social programs? Sanctuary cities my ass.

Lance and Jasper….permit me to entertain the drive by blog trolling style of expression on this post. Rants filled with crude expressions seem to be welcome at AMG.

Any way….for the mature logical adults posting on AMG…not you Matty bubbles….ask around in your local hospital for info on the drug use problem in this fine state….ask the staff people in the emergency room how they view the ‘drug problem’.
Or…check out the links below

“Maine people are keenly aware of a major epidemic that killed 272 Mainers in 2015: the opioid addiction epidemic.”

In 2016, the state of Maine averaged one drug overdose death a day, with the vast majority of those deaths by heroin. TONIC goes behind the numbers to the fishing town of Machias to meet people whose lives have been affected by the opiate epidemic.

http://www.pressherald.com/2017/07/09/as-maines-opioid-crisis-worsens-12...
Following 2016, a year in which 376 people died from drug overdoses, the highest number ever recorded and a 114 percent increase in just four years, the Legislature accomplished little to reverse the deadly trend that has threatened an entire generation.

I know……Lets start the’ War on drugs’! Another libtard failed social program.

It is more accurate and less Libtard to acknowledge that it is not that there were...272 Mainers who lost their lives to drug overdoses...it is...272 Mainers killed themselves with drug overdoses..

Hey Watcher…..There is data

Hey Watcher…..There is data out there that leads to….more " accuracy". Suicide or accidental OD? What are the data for that?
The 2 year total is 272 in 2015 plus 376 in 2016. That is 648 dead by drugs...and Matty does not give a shit.....but he does about 3 dead in another state because now....NOW he can trot out liberal hate towards....some conservative.

https://mcspolicycenter.umaine.edu/2017/04/12/marcella-sorgs-research-dr...

• Total: In 2016 there were 376 drug-induced deaths statewide, 104 (38%) more than in 2015.
• Manners of death: Of these 376, 330 (88%) were accidental overdoses, 38 (10%) were suicides, and 8 (2%) undetermined manner.
o Pharmaceutical opioid deaths (33% of 2016 deaths) have remained mostly stable, although the number of deaths caused by hydrocodone has increased substantially, from 2 in 2015 to 18 in 2016.

So Matty:
“Ah, yes, the safe space for white proponents of the merits of the individual. Where on earth does it exist?”

It exists in Washington county Matt.. The safe space there is drug induced.
You get wrapped around the axle for events in another state, find somebody to blame for 3 deaths, do not have a clue and step forward with flaming rhetoric, professing to know all. Do you understand that you do not get it?

Uh, Spidey, do you even know what flaming rhetoric is? What Matt is doing is drive-by, with no purpose other than to make you red-faced and indignant (and he succeeds). Rhetoric is a tool meant to persuade, convince and inform. That is what you are doing, like a flaming asshole.

Everyone gets it except Trump and you dipshits.

Classic juxtaposition. Perfect expression of nonsensical logic. Well done, give us more. Have to go now and look up the definition of "dipshit".

Well in WW2 the commies were as bad (in sheer volume of killing) as the Nazis.

But here, the Nazis are absolutely worse. Let's put it in terms you hopefully understand - a Nazi domestic terrorist drove a car into a crowd of people and killed someone and injured dozens.

The only Nazi that will die from this tragic event is that same guy, when he goes to prison and gets shivved while taking a shower.

The New Civil War
By Tom Trinko

The first “shots” in our new civil war were fired after Charlottesville when many Democratic leaders claimed that they had the right to use physical force against anyone they didn’t like.

While cowardly leftist leaders are trying to portray themselves as fighting Hitler they are really fighting anyone they don’t agree with. Remember that some Democrats said that Rep. Steve Scalise had it coming since he opposed gun control and that Democrats have been silent when left-wing violence was used to prevent Republicans marching in a parade in Portland.

Facing a continued loss of power because their radical agenda is toxic to most Americans, the Democrat leadership -- which includes the MSM -- have decided that they have the right to physically attack anyone who stands in their way.
Like their Nazi and Communist forefathers, today’s Democrat leaders are comfortable sending swarms of Brownshirts out to beat into submission anyone who stands between them and power.

Under Obama, Democrats renounced the rule of law by declaring that they could choose to not enforce laws they didn’t like and make up laws that Congress never passed. Now they’re saying that they have the right to attack anyone who dares speak out in disagreement. Rep. Scalise wasn’t a Nazi or white nationalist, nor were the Republicans in Portland, or the speakers that Democrats forcibly prevented from speaking in Berkeley. Yet the Democratic leadership’s condemnation of all of those events has been muted at best.

What is even more dangerous

What is even more dangerous than anything the Nazi, BLM, Antifa or any other special interest self offended group can do or think of is or should be of great concern to all of us. What must be considered is the destruction of American heritage. Whether or not one agrees or disagrees with any perceived insult to any of the lettered professional victim organizations is irrelevant. The greater picture is the attaack and destruction of American history and the ongoing destruction of icons of American history.

To allow this to happen is to allow us to become separated from our past, to break the ties with who we are and ow we got here. This binding effect is what holds us together as a people. What cements the known facts of our past, good and bad, into a trail which must be walked again alnd again. As we are doomed to repeat history should we ever forget it. Now it seems that there are those who want exactly that. To make American history disappear so that the continued destruction of our society can be more easily accomplished.

Now who would want this to happen? It is also not that hard to recognize them. They are pointed out every day in conservative media. They run from foreign influences to Presidential wannabes to Senators , to Representatives, to prominent celebrities to just about anyone who thinks they have been oppressed. Either in the past or not at all and want their greedy beliefs paid for by the public trough.

It's not hard to follow the money when it comes to see just who the ringleaders are. They are the big mouths who are running down our nation and attempting to tear down our duly elected President because he is exposing them for what they are. Just greedy criminals who don't want their gravy train disrupted. College professors pulling down six figured salaries while spewing hate and violence and being paid with public money. Media who attempt to foment unrest and violence in order to sell their disgusting pablum to weak minded or those who simply are too busy trying to make a living with no spare time to dig deeply into the backgrounds of these people.

Our President just stopped Korea cold and humiliated lil Kim by masterful negotiation and strong words. Something not tried by others who would see our country weakened for their own benefit.
But, what does our own major in state newspaper print the next day? Nothing about the Presidents victory over lil Kim but rather foments the rumors of war with a headline claiming Korean troops are massing and drilling for imminent war. The news is ignoring reports of Korean civilians being killed for no longer bowing and scraping to lil Kim as if he were deity. No they are much more concerned about the President or our governor seeing thing clearly and not kowtowing to their line of political hatred.

History is our only link to our past. It is our only proof of our existence through time. We need not necessary to dwell on the negatives but it is important to note them. For without them we cannot improve our existence and better ourselves. No, that is not Politically correct. A strong powerful nation wit moral character and strong people in harmony with each other. Not at all. Discord, conflict and Civil War is what is intended by those who seek personal benefit through chaos.

AS a great writer who predicted the type of anarchy we are now seeing once said: "Don't let it happen, it's up to you."

Lee was on the fence about the Confederacy - he privately opposed it. He declined invitations to lead the Confederate army but eventually joined when it became clear that Virginia was going to secede (his loyalty was to his state, not to the Confederacy).

Hitler had Auschwitz,

Hitler had Auschwitz, Jefferson Davis had Andersonville. The Officers in both instances had their trials and were executed for their crimes. It would not surprise me to learn that the North had there equivalent as well, but we just do not know about it.

Speaking about not getting all the facts; here is a Southern perspective about how the War Between the States was instigated by more learned people than ourselves about the Southern point of view (Exceptions politely made for Matt and Smegma)

Just So We Are Clear

By James W. King and Lt Col Thomas M. Nelson

Historians have long debated the causes of the war and the Southern perspective differs greatly from the Northern perspective. Based upon the study of original documents of the War Between The States (Civil War) era and facts and information published by Confederate Veterans, Confederate Chaplains, Southern writers and Southern Historians before, during, and after the war, I present the facts, opinions, and conclusions stated in the following article.
Technically the 10 causes listed are reasons for Southern secession. The only cause of the war was that the South was invaded and responded to Northern aggression.
I respectfully disagree with those who claim that the War Between the States was fought over slavery or that the abolition of slavery in the Revolutionary Era or early Federal period would have prevented war. It is my opinion that war was inevitable between the North and South due to complex political and cultural differences. The famous Englishman Winston Churchill stated that the war between the North and South was one of the most unpreventable wars in history. The Cause that the Confederate States of America fought for (1861-1865) was Southern Independence from the United States of America. Many parallels exist between the War for American Independence (1775-1783) and the War for Southern Independence.
There were 10 political causes of the war (causes of Southern Secession) ---one of which was slavery--- which was a scapegoat for all the differences that existed between the North and South. The Northern industrialists had wanted a war since about 1830 to get the South's resources (land-cotton-coal-timber-minerals) for pennies on the dollar. All wars are economic and are always between centralists and decentralists. The North would have found an excuse to invade the South even if slavery had never existed.
A war almost occurred during 1828-1832 over the tariff when South Carolina passed nullification laws. The U.S. congress had increased the tariff rate on imported products to 40% (known as the tariff of abominations in Southern States). This crisis had nothing to do with slavery. If slavery had never existed --period--or had been eliminated at the time the Declaration of Independence was written in 1776 or anytime prior to 1860 it is my opinion that there would still have been a war sooner or later.
On a human level there were 5 causes of the war--New England Greed-New England Radicals--New England Fanatics--New England Zealots--and New England Hypocrites. During "So Called Reconstruction" ( 1865-1877 ) the New England Industrialists got what they had really wanted for 40 years--THE SOUTH'S RESOURCES FOR PENNIES ON THE DOLLAR. It was a political coalition between the New England economic interests and the New England fanatics and zealots that caused Southern secession to be necessary for economic survival and safety of the population.

You may read the details of this point of view here. I have read similar many years prior to this and do not have reason to totally disagree :

Matt's right. Rebecca is not

Matt's right. Rebecca is not confused in the least. Slavery had nothing whatsoever to do with the Civil War. It was just a convenient excuse for progressives to steal from the salt of the earth. An Irish blogger and other really smart people that Rebecca knows have said so.
