America Is No Longer A Christian Nation!

In our relationship with the God of the Bible, we do not have the luxury of a personal opinion that is contrary to His Word. You cannot believe that there are "many paths to God" and call yourself a follower of Christ!
If you are a Christian, you are mocking God when you glorify lifestyles that God says are unacceptable. We even hold parades for people who are living in a lifestyle that God himself called "detestable" (Leviticus 18:22).
People long to make God convenient, to make God say and be what they want Him to be. It doesn't work like this.
In June 2007, during a speech, Senator Barack Obama made the declaration, "America is no longer a Christian nation". This is a statement with which I strongly concur. Although an estimated 70-80% of Americans claim to be Christians, I am led to believe that only about 30% of these people live a true Christian lifestyle.
In our relationship with the God of the Bible, we do not have the luxury of a personal opinion that is contrary to His Word. God says that His ways are far above our ways. Therefore, we cannot trust our own opinions for the reason that, as a believer, we are required to rely on the authority of the Bible (Proverbs 3).
Secondly, we are only saved through faith in Jesus Christ. I want to make something perfectly clear. WE CANNOT EARN OUR SALVATION. IT IS A GIFT FROM GOD! (Ephesians 2:7-9). The Bible says that it is only through faith in the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus that we are saved. Jesus said, " No man comes to the father except through me". You either believe He is the Messiah of the World, or not. Jesus was crucified because He did not compromise His position as the Son of God. Without faith in Jesus Christ, according to the word of God, you are not a Christian. You cannot believe that there are "many paths to God" and call yourself a follower of Christ! In addition, you cannot live in open rebellion to God's Word and possess a relationship with the God of the Bible. Many people do not want to accept this truth, but the Bible is very clear.
Ministers of the Gospel do not preach against sin to be judgmental or hateful. Ministers are required by God's Word to preach repentance from sin out of love for all mankind. This is what God calls preachers to do. The Bible states that the result of living in sin is eternal death (Romans 6:23). Because God loves us, He tells us to stop openly sinning. The Bible also states that God corrects those that He loves. We may make mistakes and we often sin, but there is no forgiveness for intentional, unrepentant sin...period!

Yes!!! I can just feel the love!!
Michelle,
As long as true Christians remain faithful to the principals in Scripture, regardless of the persecution liberals and revisionists bring, we are a nation with Christians. Salt and Light.
Thank you, Michelle. And, by the way, I hope you enjoyed the Amzaing Grace rendition. It was a gift to me that I shared with others, but it was really meant for you. God bless you and your family.
Thank you Michelle.
God is not mocked. Whatever is sown is what will be reaped. God judges nations, whether they think so or not.
Even as a parent is forced to correct their child to keep them on a path other than self destruction, so also does
God correct men while striving with them to change their self destructive ways.
I feel the love, even as receiving correction from a parent, it is still love, tough love.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic. I hope you are. If you have a question/comment about posting copyrighted material - just ask!
Best,

"Whatever we once were, we're no longer a Christian nation. At least not just. We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, and a Buddhist nation, and a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers," Obama said during a June 2007 speech available on YouTube.
I see that as correct. Clearly, the majority here in the US are Christian..including Obama. That said, sounds like he is representing all people.
Michelle's husband Ken owns the newspaper, and she posts information here on that basis.
Scott and I have nothing to do with that publication, at least that I'm aware of.
However, Auntie Mabel is glad to see you all know the rules.
That's the longest 75-word quote I've seen in some time!
Just flashed back to Eddie Driscoll and Dialing for Dollars on Channel 2.
"That's the longest number I ever dialed!"
You can't make a religious argument in a public forum. Too many people aren't religious, or are even anti-religious, and they won't support you.

Are you sure you have nothing to do with Michelle's newspaper? What about the people who think you're actually Michelle and Michelle is actually you? And while we're on the subject - are we sure you and Michelle aren't the same person? Or maybe the two of you are legions of Russian, Chinese, and Iranian hackers who have copped your login info and all of them are posting as "Naran" and "Michelle Anderson"?
It could happen that way, right?
skf
You know, no one has ever noted seeing Naran and I in public together. We may well be the same person.
And Scott may be the owner of the Magic City Morning Star. In fact, he may well be the owner of all informational sites in the state of Maine. I must note here that he uses editor@asmainegoes.com as an address here and the editor of the MCMS uses editor@magic-city-news.com. A clue!!
Yes, that's it. We are a triumvirate, even as our president-elect assembles a politburo. We are in for great times.
However, this particular thread was started in order to discuss the well-known author's concept about the fact that we are no longer a Christian nation, which is what we were established as in the first place.
I guess I should have said that I would like to see discussion of this by people who have actually read it.
Smoochies,
Michelle, Naran, and Scott
AHA! Yet another conspiracy floating amongst us! And a triumvirate at that! WAY TO GO! Must go adjust all of the antennas on my abundant stock of tin foil hats to vector in this new cabul. (Wish I knew exactly what a trumvirate actually meant - and, please, don't anyone go to the trouble to post it, as I really don't care what it does mean - but it's a really cool word!)
Another related cool word: troika.
Do you get better reception of the Zionist CIA Chinese...ummm...Potatoe Banker Hegemony mind-control rays with tin foil, or aluminum foil? And can you even get tin foil any more?
Wait a minute...no tin foil...downfall of America...we just might be on to something here. What if THEY (you know...THEM) got rid of tin foil, knowing that aluminum foil gives inadequate protection from the aforementioned mind control rays??
Has anybody ever corellated the use of aluminum foil hats and the end of the Republic, or mass voting for Democrats?
If I disappear, suspect Big Aluminum Foil.
I think we can just go after BIG FOIL, at it'll include 'em all! Then again, your disappearance could be the Rapture. And I pray neither I nor my family are around to notice.
When you say "Christian nation", do you include Catholics in that definition?
Daniel. Beast #1 ?
Democrat, a more appropriate title for this thread would be, "America Is No Longer A Nation of Christians!"
America was not founded as a Christian Nation. America was founded as a free nation, where people could practice the religion of their choosing, or none at all.

Well said.

Ballzoni! The American States were founded to be free of an overbearing government, based on, if not Christian, then Judaeo-Christian principles.
IdleTickover, for starters, The treaty of Tripoli.
Authored by American diplomat Joel Barlow in 1796, the following treaty was sent to the floor of the Senate, June 7, 1797, where it was read aloud in its entirety and unanimously approved. John Adams, having seen the treaty, signed it and proudly proclaimed it to the Nation.
Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.
Gee, Robert, how long have you been waiting to put that up?
I don't understand your question Bluejay.
I was being a bit sarcastic, I admit, but I couldn't help but note that only 6 minutes after IdleTickover said that America was founded on Christian or Judeo-Christian principles, you produce a quote from an obscure treaty written in 1796 that appears to refute his statement. Either you're a very well-read scholar of American foreign policy or quite possibly you've just been waiting to use this particular quote. No big deal; it's a slow morning here right now. :)
Any fair reading of early American history shows two basic facts:
1. America's founders were Christians. Different sects, yes. But America's founders were not, say, Buddhists, Muslims - they were Christians.
2. America was established as a nation guaranteeing freedom of religion.

No scholar here. I like reading American history, which is quickly being rewritten. :(
I agree with those two facts SKF.
