I am declaring my candidacy for US Senate for the state of Maine...It’s time a true leader forged in the fire of Tea Party fiscal conservatism grabbed the reins...My opponent, Olympia Snowe, is not, and never will be, such a leader. In fact, she has more in common with partisan Democrats than with patriotic Americans.

Yesterday the national "Tea Party Express" said they were going to back a primary challenge to Olympia Snowe, although they notably failed to identify their candidate. Chairwoman Amy Kremer said:
“Snowe dishonors the notion that the Republican Party is supposed to be the fiscally conservative, constitutionalist political party in America. ... She voted for the bailouts, the failed stimulus plan, the repeal of tax cuts and showed her disdain for the constitution by voting in favor of the nominations of Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotamayer [it's Sotomayor] to the Supreme Court.” However Snowe might elect not to run for re-election if she sees a serious primary challenge developing - meaning someone other than Andrew Ian Dodge. See "Tea Party Express Names Snowe as Its Next Moderate Republican Target": http://www.rollcall.com/news/-203309-1.html

I wonder if AID will be campaigning in his
full “GOTH” attire?

Personally, I give Andrew great credit for taking on this endeavor. Let's be honest - such an undertaking isn't for cowards, or those who fear losing face (and a lot of money) if they fail.

Whether or not you agree with Snowe's past performance, and whether or not you think she deserves another term -- to me, that isn't the point.

AID has the right to launch this campaign, and I believe he deserves applause for putting his money (and efforts) where his mouth is.

This should be a hoot. I nominate "Born to Be Wild" as AID's campaign anthem.

Like a smart gambler, I wonder if this guy has an amount to which he will spend on his losses. I see he has a ton of personal dough.

What is he doing, currently? I don't know diddly about him, but the impression I get is that his tea party advocacy IS what he does. I certainly could be wrong. Not trying to badmouth him.

If someone funds their own campaign, I absolutely respect that. But those (Carter, etc.) without anything better to do can make fundraising, running (especially two years out, lol) and bloviating into a gig unto itself.

More power to him. If for nothing else, at least he will get publicity for the band, which actually has some pretty good music.

Well he doesn't have the comb over of Trump or the anti-foreign intervention policy of Ron Paul, so maybe he has a chance with the American electorate, especially if the ole crone croaks just before the primary. j/k there obviously

After reading a bit more about Andrews candidacy I have to admit I'm ready to support him over Snowe. I'm a bit disturbed that he looks a lot like her, but hell, I'm ready to support the candidacy once I can bring back some of the returnables that I had hoped for retirement.

The Fed QE2 policy has got me thinking that cashing them in now will give me more bang for my buck for investing in a somewhat unknown candidate over an obvious statist won't-retire dinosaur, whatever the outcome.

Christine O'Donnell was apparently not willing to move to Maine.

I'd say Boehner and the R house's leadership offer of cutting 38 Billion from a 4 trillion dollar budget speaks pants load of what we can expect from the dinosaurs presently sitting in Congress.

WHY even bother?

Well, this is interesting.
Can't say that I'm particularly excited about it... but it's interesting.

Jarrod LeBlanc just put out this interesting expose' on some of the shenanigans of our illustrious Senators, accusing them of actually supporting FASCISM....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuTk4OgjY2s&feature=related

I think that he makes some pretty salient points, actually...

I for one sure wish that we could come up with a viable opponent who could at least give her a run for her money.

Nothing personal guys - but I'm still waiting.

I had thought there was some speculation that she might not run again. That seemingly was put to rest in the Press Herald article this morning as her spokesman said that she looked forward to the campaign.

They also noted her support from Gov. LePage. I agree with him.

Ah, yes, the ladies both supported the repeal of Glass-Steagall, a change that was pushed by that known fascist Phil Graham, of Graham-Rudmin fame.

Oh, and I saw no mention in the video about TARP money being paid back by those dastardly tools of fascism.

Here's an interview with AID at CPAC from Right Wing News.

I think that AID is going to have an uphill battle winning 'social conservatives' because self-identified libertarians frequently express a real hostility towards organized religious beliefs and 'social conservatism' in general. Neal Boortz comes to mind as an example.

On the other hand, AID took some (unjustified, in my opinion) hits from some fringe 'social conservatives' himself, so it's easy to understand why he may not have a warm feeling in his heart towards us...

I've read that much of the payback of TARP funds was done by taking other loans to pay off TARP debt first for our public consumption.

I welcome AID to the fray, at least if nothing else Snowe will have to work for your vote and explain some of her 15% votes.

The BDN printed IAD's press release and did little or no checking. To print that IAD "is the leader of the tea party in Maine" is preposterous. To be a leader implies that there are followers. Some in our country see the tea party movement as a way to make money and gain power. They tapped into some folks with deep pockets and they are funding web sites in every state. Put some thought into this and the trail will lead to George Soros. His agenda is chaos and it makes not difference whether the chaos is generated by ACORN, false tea party individuals or NORML. The goal is chaos and to confuse the public.
