Any suggestions for a Maine Official state song'?

This morning's WVOM-fm 103.9 radio host Ric Tyler,George Hale, and Jay-something did a hour segment for nominating an offical rock song for the state of Maine. There were many good recommendations. I tried calling in but the phone lines were jammed packed.
If it was someone from here who emailed in with a Queen song, that was the best.
By the end of today's workday, the best nominee i could come up with was 'Dont Worry,Be Happy'., not really a winner nor a really a rock song, I think it means bills are piling up,etc, but things are going to get better. [yea, right]
"Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out".
Eric Clapton versions on "Unplugged," and (I think) "Layla and Assorted Love Songs."
[Virtually every song can be found on You Tube, for posting the a You Tube song]
How about the country rock classic If It Weren't For the Bad Times, We'd Have No Times At All?
That's good, Vic, but let's try to be positive. Why not "We Shall Overcome", tho' granted it's not rock.
First of all there already is a state song. I believe it is called "GREAT STATE OF MAINE." When is it sung with a lively beat it is very very catchy.
But if we were to change it, the best song for Maine is one that is apropriate for our geographical location it is "HERE COMES THE SUN" by the Beatles.
My suggestion is we don't encourage them to piss away valuable resources establishing a state rock song! we have a State song, leave it at that. let's try and fix our State economy! Just Say'n
Good observaton, Gearhead!
"The party's over "
How about "Turn the LePage"
Enema by Tool
Neil Young, Everybody knows this is nowhere
I wish I were an Oscar Mayer weiner
That is what I'd truly like to be,e,e
Cuz if I were an Oscar Mayer weiner
I could tell the state to just "bite me"
I'm leaving on a Jet Plane.
Get Out Alilve (Three Days Grace ver.)
Goodbye (Avril Lavigne)
Adios (Glen Miller Orchestra -- that's for Naran) Also the Linda Rondstadt version is a great song....
Driving South (The Early November ) Nice song.
Florida Bound Blues (Besse Smith) Best line from song.....It's so cold up here the words freeze in your mouth.
An emailer from Augusta to the radio show sent this in:
Two suggestions:
16 Tons (and whaddaya get, another day older and deeper in debt...)
God Bless Texas (since Maine does little to encourage His blessings on Maine)
Beatles "Taxman"
I had an old friend, John Roman by name, who was a Professor of Sociology at UMF. He was a good guy. He died of a heart attack near the Better Living Center in Farmington. He often mentioned to me that the rock and roll song, which I suggested before, HERE COMES THE SUN by the Beatles was a perfect song because Maine is the first state to greet the sun in America.
Most all of the suggestions so far by AMGers have been snarky.
And lest we forget: Maine is the only state university with a drinking song as its official anthem. You have 1:20 music intro until the lyric comes in:

That's the original Rudy Vallee version.
Now for something really bizarre, here is the Maine Stein Song in Chinese sung as accompianament to Taiwanese military drills (I have no logical explanation for this but it is odd):

There are at least two other very rousing versions of the Stein Song done by Korean tenors. Go to Youtube and search for "Stein Song Korean." They are worth hearing.
Actually, the Stein Song would be a pretty good state song too.
I remember wearing my Freshman beany and having to learn the Stein Song. I was asked by an upper classman to sing it one time, in front of Aubert Hall on campus.
Thanks Vic, for bringing up the Stein Song.
Snarky indeed, music opens up the sweeping joy of artistic expression. The former USSR loved to imprison Punk Rock bands for political reasons.
Go here for the Maine state song. This version has no words but the melody is there and when it is done upbeat and with words it is pretty catchy. I'm not crazy about the instrument they used in the video.

Back under the rule of the Baldacci Syndicate, I suggested an old Steven Foster song might be appropriate for this once great state.
After the Liberty revolt of 2010 it looked as though things might be looking up at last and "Happy Days" might work... but now that the leftist and homo counteroffensive combined with the disintegration and internal conflicts on the republican side seems to be sweeping the communists (AKA "Democrats") and Democrats-in-diguise "Independents" back into dominance, I might have to reconsider my optomism... and theme song recommendation.
If Komrade Baldacci is reconstituted to power in 2014 as well he may be given the way our voting seems to have gone lately, then this:

will define Maine whether it becomes official or not.... particularly after the $OPM runs out, as it most surely will as soon as the banks quit loaning us money that they are never getting back and the few surviving productive serfs can't pay any more taxes. I think it almost did last time.
As you look at the pictures on this video, think "Maine on Democrats". Some of them were taken in other countries, most if not all of which are under the rule of communists or Islam... not much difference really; Islam is just communism with a "god".
It ain't "rock"... but it's hard... just like life here in Maine is going to be for us peasants after the Baldaccians take us back over.
Thanks Unclejaque. Let's hope it doesn't get that bad.
If it does get that bad I suspect the Democrats will have us singing the INTERNATIONALE!
I understand key democrats are lobbying for "If I Had a Million Dollars"...or "Take this Job and Shove it, I got Welfare Coming Now+... .
1. Talking Heads-"Road To Nowhere"
2. Who "Baba OReiley" (Teenage Wasteland)
The Animals' "We Gotta Get Out of This Place"
These are real song titles, you could look 'em up.
Legislature theme song: California's None of Them Knew They Were Robots
DHS theme song: Miss Li's I'm So Poor, Won't You Give Me Some Money?
Bipartisan champions Olympia Snowe and Angus King theme: The Locusts' Halfway To a Worthless Ideal Solution
MacKernan and Baldacci's theme song: The Devil Wears Prada's Hey John, What's Your Name Again?
Democrats retaking the legislative majority: Sufjan Stevens' They Are Night Zombies! They Are Neighbors! They Have Come Back From the Dead!
Now that your state is a "beacon of progressive advancement" by promoting homosexual "marriage," how about.....
Attic Owl::
IMHO, best suggestion thus far with "Here Comes the Sun". There is a lot to criticize in state government. The place itself is breathtakingly beautiful.
PS: The Mass selection of state "Rock and Roll Song" was what started this digression, and that eliminates many non-rock selections. Yours, however, qualifies on that score.

Probably not any appropriate than most but I would offer my farewell song broadcast over radios on my last shift at work!
Johnny Paycheck "Take this Job and Shove it"!
