Biden vs Ryan! Bets, Good Guesses, Thoughts?

Soon these two will square off in the VP debate.

I think Ryan will be a great debater. He has a great way of making points, and has had some head to head with Obama in the past, during which it was widely aknowledged that he carried the day.
Some "intereactions on Aug 11, 2012
Biden strikes me as a "used car salesman", he would be the guy that has been in the dealership for 30 yrs, still a salesman as he has a slick gift of gab, but no head for "managing" anything. Anything at any moment, can pop out of his mouth.
Personally, I would not want to be Obama, and have to stake my future, in part at least, on this boob.
We will see!

I think this is Biden's to lose. Will he come across as a cagey veteran or an old windbag?
ABC News scrambles to downplay Obama’s attendance at VP debate moderator’s wedding
President Barack Obama was a guest at the 1991 wedding of ABC senior foreign correspondent and vice presidential debate moderator Martha Raddatz, The Daily Caller has learned. Obama and groom Julius Genachowski, whom Obama would later tap to head the Federal Communications Commission, were Harvard Law School classmates at the time and members of the Harvard Law Review.
Classmate? That makes one - who admits it.
Just more lies from the Obama administration. Kind of like the donor scandal. The Obama campaign isn't using the CVV program to ensure the legitimacy of small credit card donations, because it might "discourage" someone from donation. They ARE, however, using CVV for their web store, where they sell hats, shirts and other gear. Imagine that.

As for the debate, I believe we're going to see another floor-mopping episode, where Ryan handily uses Biden to clean the boards on which they stand. Somebody should just hand Biden a can of "Shimmer Floor Wax," and get it over with.

Joe will be loud but will not flub. The spin against Ryan will be enormous.
The bar has been set so low that, if Biden gets through the debate without blowing his nose on his tie, the media will declare it a Biden victory. The headlines the next day will trumpet "the rebound of the Obama campaign". Pundits will be so busy interviewing each other on having witnessed the miracle that no one will remember to report on the story of illegals registering to vote in historic numbers.
* sigh * Mike, that has a ring of truth to it.
It's going to be interesting, for certain. Biden, of course, is capable of saying almost anything - and he does have a tendency to shoot from the hip. My guess, however, is that after Obama's lousy performance against Romney they'll have Biden extremely well prepped, and he'll be on his absolute best behavior. That's not to say that he isn't capable of making one or more serious errors, but it's less likely. Count on Biden emphasizing his affability - and don't overlook the possibility that he gets in one or more really memorable one-liners. Biden can be pretty funny (though not always when he intends to be).
And any whoppers that he lets fly with will likely be dismissed by the elite media as "Joe being Joe."
So Ryan's got to be careful here. He has to stick to facts and be willing to defend them. Ryan's certainly got the intellectual firepower to pull it off; his biggest challenge is likely to be coming off as an arrogant whiz kid beating up on Grampa - "yeah, we all know Gramps gets a little loopy at times, but we still love him." He needs to be likeable (which he should be able to do).
Smart, accessible explanation of positions and plans will be Ryan's strong point; if he can do as well on that score as Romney did he should have a winning night. After all, he has the complete LACK of positions and plans from the Obamadmin to point to. He has to be able to explain the need to reform Medicare, and reassure the nation that it won't undermine care for the elderly (likely to be the biggest source of attack from Biden). He has to be able to explain how that's actually possible.
Going in, I've got to give the edge to Ryan for intellectual acumen and number-crunching ability. The way he approaches Biden and the topics will be critical; his argument isn't with Biden, but rather with Biden's boss. Ryan has to leave the stage after making a convincing argument that the Obamadmin's fiscal policies are hurting the nation. If he can clearly demonstrate that Biden is a sweet guy who doesn't have a clue, that's bonus points.
ON EDIT: if Biden gets through the debate without blowing his nose on his tie, the media will declare it a Biden victory.
I wish that wasn't so funny - or possible.
Another "Biden Blooper" would be most entertaining; particularly at this point in the campaign.
"Ryan...if he can do as well on that score as Romney did he should have a winning night."
Who ever thought we'd be saying that?!?!?!?! Hahaha, one week sure does change things!
Biden is one heart beat away from the presidency. That thought, alone, should swing votes to Romney/Ryan.
Dale
So what are you saying, Biden shouldn't emphasis that with the reelection of Obama, four years later Joe will be running for prez? What a dynasty!
separated at birth?

Benee maylee, ickee bo bo
Obama lost ground with women after the Denver debate.
Watch Biden turn every issue into a chance to harp on Ryan's "extreme" Catholic positions on "women's issues."
(In so doing, Biden will undercut his own Catholicism, but no matter.)
Biden will try to make the debate all about the "Republican War on Women."
It could work, if Ryan is not anticipating this.
Smart thinking, Mainemom - as usual.
Does anyone really think the MSM will say that Ryan won? All Biden has to do is show up, sort of like Michelle's job at the hospital.
It's Ryan's to lose.
If he wins, we'll hear "debates don't matter", if he loses, it will be trumpeted as a "spectacular comeback by the Omama campaign."
Expect Joe to harp on "women's issues". It's been his touchstone as long as he's been in politics, he is probably the biggest wh@re for the feminists there is. VAWA is his own personal baby, I'd be amazed if he didn't bring that up. If not for his fanatic support there, he would have been shut out by the Democrats long ago.
The 58% of Maine voters who voted for Obama last time will love everything Biden has to say. The Republican base will love what Ryan has to say. I don't anticipate a knockout blow that could change those numbers.
The best we can hope for is a howling snowstorm on November 6.
I'm not so sure Roger.....I've met a number of Obama voters who aren't happy. Each base will support their own, but the new poll results may be happening here as well. Obama swayed a lot of 'independent' voters last time.....jobs haven't improved, income is down, many are NOT happy with the illegal alien situation, as well as the price of gas and mayber more important, heating oil. Ryan also needs to hit it out....with a little luck, Joe will have a manhattan or two to calm the nerves prior...
I'd say that it is unlikely that Romney will take Maine, if the GOP had a better candidate Romney, the result would have been different, but as Maine Goes no longer applies to the nation. It may be somewhat telling when the debate gets to foreign affairs who will try and be the most hawkish.
As one who believes that our foreign budget exceeds what any nation should outlay, that fact has kept me from supporting Romney/Rand. Now Biden is the consummate chickenhawk, I'd hope Rand does not want to one up him.
Cutting domestic programs no matter how important, does not relate much to the excesses of our spending overseas
For instance Rand could point out that Obama's bombing of Libya cost the American taxpayer about the same as the cut of HEAP appropriations, now why such a comparison doesn't play well with the blood and gore crowd, it might ring to those that see the failure of aggressive policy in the middle east and how Libya has worked so well for Obama/Biden/Clinton.
Didn't take long, At 9:15 or even before Rand shows the hand of the romney/rand administration on Iran War, I predict a bounce the other way? Rand one upped Biden the chickenhawk
Will give the foreign policy edge to Biden on pure bull$#!+ and Ryan's inexperience.
On to economy. Ryan's first answer is weak.
Biden is acting like a smarmy buffoon. He interrupts Ryan, he laughs while Ryan is talking, he is rude, condescending and insulting. Ryan is polite. Ryan is fact filled. Ryan clearly expresses and makes his points. I'd never buy anything Biden was attempting to sell. He is obviously full of cowpies.
The moderator is asinine.
Biden "who would you believe ?"
Now that is damn funny, would you buy a used car from either of these men?
Of Course not they are politicians
Biden is doing a great job. He's been very well coached. He's interrupting for a reason, it's strategic in order to knock Ryan off his "flow" and keep him from making his points clearly. The moderator is letting him do it, she's switched subjects several times without letting Ryan finish but I'm not sure she's doing it on purpose.
Agree completely, Mike.
Biden is having the night of his life.
Biden is having the night of his life.
Wow....I'm not getting that at all, unless, like someone else said, you define success by being a buffoon.
Biden on abortion: I accept the Church's view, but I won't impose it on others.
The classic cop-out; I don't believe in abortion, but knock yourself out if you want it.
Mike...I am so frustrated watching this. You are spot on....Biden is clearly rude and purposely derailing Ryans train of thought. When Ryan is 100% serious on one side and Biden's laughing face is telling...haaa haaa haaa the anwers to this I can manipulate. Uggh...Biden is well trained.
