Bill Maher to "out" gay republicans

I just heard a clip from Larry King Live where Bill Maher stated that everyone in the beltway knows that the real power in the republican party consists of gay men, and he plans to out them Friday night on his show. Larry King actually was a bit perplexed and asked for names. Maher stated Ken Mehlman for one, and everybody knows it. King was not aware of Mehlman and "in a fog" on this.

I guess outing someone and calling out their sexuality is ok as long as a liberal does it. Anyone remember John Kerry's debate with Dick Cheney and Kerry calling out Cheney's daughter as a lesbian?

Liberals are a protected class. No fair calling them on their behavioral choices.

Bill Maher or Mike Heath. Who ever threatens to disclose the private sexual activities of someone else is a turd. Mike recognized that and backed off.

I say let Bill Maher "out" all the Gay Republicans. Then the Democrats won't be able to blackmail them anymore over their closeted sexuality.

Outing people is wrong. That said, if there was not so much hate and bigotry in the world, being "in" would never be necessary.

Yea, there is a lot of hate. I can't believe he would out a gay as a Republican, that's likely to get someone killed in the gay community.

In this day & age, if you're gay, why does it matter if people know or not?

But whose business is it but the person themselves? Everyone else should mind their own business.

He's outing them for being Republicans, because that is the only class of people the media encourages hating.

I lost a vote from a gay person simply because I was a Republican. We agreed on every one of the economic issues. We agreed on the need for more honesty in government. We agreed on the need for a shift in focus to the people who are governed rather than the special interests, focus on maintaining power and purely partisan bickering. Wasn't enthusiastic on my stand on social issues that directly affect gays but found it acceptable in light of all the other agreement. We found common ground on other social issues as well.

Then I told him I was a Republican. That was that, no vote for me.

So, UC, what I'd like you, and any other proclaimer of Republicans hating whatever group, is to explain to me how that is even close to being right.

The only thing that kept him from voting for me was an R next to my name. That isn't an assumption, he flat out said it.

So explain to me how that is right UC.

David, welcome to the world of my in-laws....but then again, they still use the word colored. I think one of them is in your district.

Heath admitted to making a mistake for calling for the outing, but some of you want to continue to use that as an excuse to dislike him. Why not just admit the real reason you dislike him?

I gave him credit for not actually doing it. He loaded his weapon, took aim, and then holstered it.

Would he dare to include the party's lesbians?

I believe a lot of Republicans reference homosexuality as a lifestyle choice, and it's clear that the Party presents an agenda that seeks to distinguish the social standing of heterosexual relationships and homosexual relationships.

Now, I would say that somebody who uses cocaine and affiliates themselves with anti-cocaine usage legislation, saying how using cocaine is an evil of society and they're such horrible people who we don't want influencing our kids, that person should be "exposed" for that conflict of interest.

A person's sexuality is certainly a personal matter that the public doesn't need to have sitting in front of them, but I go against that general rule in saying that a person who denounces homosexuality and cries about how it is a a plague on society should, in all fairness, be seen with that same conflict of interest in what they say versus what they do.

I think Foley would be the exception to the rule oyu point out Jeff.

The legislation that Foley wrote was exactly what it needed to be to ensure that people like Foley could be prosecuted.

When we seek to pass legislation we typically ask "experts" on what needs to be in there, what doesn't need to be in there, what would be adequate and what would be ideal.

Foley put into the legislation he could be charged under the ideal.

I just find it interesting that Foley laid out the legislation to catch people like himself rather than protect people like himself.

I didn't agree with it when Heath proposed doing it, and I don't agree with it when Maher proposes doing it, either.

It's despicable, and empty-headed.

Not to worry. If Bill Maher makes good on his threat I have no doubt the liberal gay community will come down on him like a ton of chintz, keeping Maher in eternal disfavor for his sin. Right?

They should, if fair is fair.

Kris - do you think Heath would have done it, if the information that he was planning to do it hadn't been outted first, creating a firestorm of protest?

Please. Let's be honest here.

One's sexuality...

defines the person? I think not! There are others, though they escape me at the moment.

Depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is...
And fair is never fair in an imperfect word.

Personally, I'll take Henry's...

Bill Maher is an entertainer...and clearly, I don't take what he has to say to heart.

Kris...Mike Heath got lots of bad press before he apologized. He knew if he didn't...he...as a leader of a political group...would lose lots of credibility. His moved backfired on him...

Just FYI...
