This month I'm going to talk about the infamous LD 285, "An Act To Designate Additional Wild Trout Waters for Recognition and Protection," sponsored by the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine (SAM) and submitted by Representative Ted Kaufman of Bar Harbor.

Butch Moore Column: Designating More Wild Trout Waters

Butch - I've really tried to understand the concept of "wild trout" fishery. But I can't get beyond my experience of doing fish surveys on the Wild River in Gilead in the late 70's, and finding out that the majority of Trout being caught were farm raised.

What is the logic of this movement? Do "wild" trout exist better? A better catch? Seems like they want a lot of trade-offs to further their point of view.
