Obama likely to name ‘cyber czar' soon

The Obama administration will likely name a White House cybersecurity coordinator within the next few weeks, sources say...
The coordinator would report to the National Security Council and the National Economic Council.
Sen. Lieberman...believes the coordinator's position should be Senate-confirmed.
Sen. Collins...opposes having a cyber czar. Collins...supports creating a new cybersecurity center within the Homeland Security Department. The center's director would report to both the president and the DHS secretary.

Collins is as conservative as she thinks she can get away with and still pull in the 'moderate' vote. Snowe is as liberal as she thinks she can get away with to call herself a Republican. Collins advertised on AMG and was the featured speaker at the MHPC anniversary banquet. Snowe avoids such associations as if they were highly infectious.
I'll never forget the first time I met Snowe, when she was headlining the GOP College Republicans annual meeting back when the first TABOR campaign was in full swing. During our brief chat, I asked her how she thought the TABOR campaign was going, and she seriously didn't know what TABOR was. She actually told me that she wasn't aware of the campaign, and asked me to explain TABOR to her.
Kevin R. was there with me, as well as the first director of the MHPC, just in case someone thinks I'm hallucinating.
Ever since then, if someone mentions Snowe, my attitude is faggeddaboutit.
I'm still smiling, because I hadn't yet asked her the TABOR question....

I heard a similar story about Snowe's ignorance of important facts, but I'm not a liberty to tell it. She has a reputation of being a hard worker, but it is not very clear what she works hard at. The same source found Collins much better informed and more eager to learn.
Spring of 2006. It was indeed Bill Becker standing next to me. The man hidden behind Snowe was an aide of hers, if memory serves.

That should be Cyber Caesar. Why use the Slavic form when you can use the Latin name?

She has been hitting the White House harder and harder. Led the fillibuster on Card Check, absolute NO on the healthscare fiasco, out in front on the Czar idiocy.
Unfortunately, I hear she has very little influence with Olympia....
