Senator Jon Courtney's Comments on the National Debt Surpassing $16 Trillion

Springvale- Tonight as delegates from across the country gather at the Democratic Convention to celebrate the "success" of their party over the past three and half years, the rest of America will be hitting a new milestone in history. This moment in history is not one that Americans will be celebrating however.

Today, the national debt hit over $16 trillion. This leaves every citizen in the United States responsible for approximately $50,907 of our growing debt.

"The Federal Debt is unsustainable and we are on a crash course with disaster. We cannot continue spending money without considering the consequences" commented Sen. Jon Courtney. "It is unconscionable that our Congresswoman and her colleagues do not appear to be taking this problem that will affect our children seriously."

"We are now approaching our fourth year without a budget and Washington has failed the American people. As our national debt continues to grow, our representation in Congress is satisfied with printing more money and continuously kicking the can down the road", stated Sen. Courtney. "We need leaders in Washington that can work together with the other side of aisle to pass a budget and begin the path to prosperity for our nation."

Senator Courtney has spent the summer traveling throughout the First District listening to members of the Main Street community express their many frustrations with Congress including the growing national debt. Jon Courtney is currently the Senate Majority Leader in the Maine State Senate and chair the Regulatory Fairness and Reform Committee. Senator Courtney lives in Springvale and is a small business owner.

On September 28, 2012 ...(EPA)...issued ... press release celebrating what appeared to be $4.3 million in new EPA brownfields grants.

.... quoted in the press release is Chellie Pingree. ....

Give it up Naran, Courtney is a putz and may set a new benchmark for how low one can go in a 1st District race. At least that will be an accomplishment, something he has failed at so far.

The "putz" is the troll who for the sake of his own personal name-calling frenzy of hatred ignored everything that was said, which was all about a staggering, monumental $16 trillion dollar deficit and unsustainable government spending bankrupting the country. Yet they blithely continue, oblivious to the destructive consequences of their own actions. All that matters to them is dragging down the successful and reducing everyone to a sinking lowest common denominator for the 'moral ideal' of egalitarian nihilism.

MCM - if you're only interested in name-calling, empty slurs and obscenities, Democratic Underground is always looking for new posters.

AMG is about civilized, reasonable, informed conversation. If you can't figure out how to do that, I'm sure you can find another forum on which to comment.
