Long piece, and in that it's a transcript of a speech, it's not the most grammatically accurate piece you'll read today. It also rambles a bit. But it's well worth reading: Caddell lays out how the news media is screwing the country.

Read it here.

This quote is a little longer than the 75 word limit, but it represents a very small percentage of Caddell's comments and sums up his argument:

The press’s job is to stand in the ramparts and protect the liberty and freedom of all of us from a government and from organized governmental power. When they desert those ramparts and decide that they will now become active participants, that their job is not simply to tell you who you may vote for, and who you may not, but, worse—and this is the danger of the last two weeks—what truth that you may know, as an American, and what truth you are not allowed to know, they have, then, made themselves a fundamental threat to the democracy, and, in my opinion, made themselves the enemy of the American people.

Thanks, Rick. The video is 26 minutes and worth it. The guy stumbles and bumbles around but makes two extraordinary points, in my view:

1. Mitt Romney is losing a race he could not lose.

2. You, me and we need to challenge media complacency anytime the license of your favorite local affiliate is up for renewal.

Last: eagleisland . . why didn't you post this in the very fresh, Jim Cyr media thread? The premise for this guy's talk is Obama's failed foriegn policy and the shirt pocket media's deceptive response to four dead Americans.

You might ask Jym Cyr why he didn't post his comments in THIS thread, which was started roughly 7 hours before his.

A great piece......but no surprise to me, really!

For several months now I have had an early morning habit. Along with my first cup of coffee, I have opened my laptop on the kitchen table and called up Real Clear Politics. RCP has been great as it has had all the major pundits up top, plus all the latest polling along with the "averages" that they produce. The last few days I have not had the stomach for it.

For quite a while the list of pundits and their latest efforts has been arranged in sort of even/odd arrangement where each gets a fair shot, in turn. But in the last week it has changed. Now the leftie pundits predominate......and they feel so strongly that they have it "in the bag", that their latest efforts are to gloat......while they rub it in the conservative's faces.

If an American ambassador had been murdered, on GWB's watch, and his bloody body dragged through the streets in a wild frenzy, the lefty press would be having emotional breakdowns beyond belief. But it has been treated as just another saturday night car crash that is not news any longer than the next morning.

If is clear to me that the media is so hopelessly in the tank for the leftist agenda that it has ceased to be serious news.

I hope I am living when the last copy of the New York Times rolls off the press, as it will be a well deserved day.

And this is not new! TWA flight 800, NY to Paris, exploded and fell out of the sky, over Long island Sound, on July 17. 1996 with huge loss of life. Many people think, and there is more than a little evidence to support, the idea that this aircraft was hit by a surface to air missle. Over 200 eyewitnesses reported seeing a "streak of light ascending" and some even followed it as it intersected the path of the airplane, and the thing expoloded. Yet not one of those was interviewed for the "official investigation". The NTSB, despite being assigned to investigate ALL civil airline disasters, took a back seat to the FBI, and eventually the CIA on this one. And the organ that was chosed to disemminate the government line on what happened was...........tah dah........the New York Times. The government gave them the exclusive right to disemminate the "official party line".

"Pravda on the Hudson"! What a bunch of friggin losers........and they are at it again, even worse now, as they help to put a communist back into the White House,.......instead of exploring his failings!

Some media!

I stand corrected . . I didn't see this until Rick bumped it up. Still an excellent post.
