I have great sympathy for Aristide, the richest man in Haiti. Poor baby. Now he'll have to live off his stolen millions. ;)

Maybe Bush will produce some dental records to prove Aristide resigned. :D

Heck, if they hadn't gotten Aristide out when they did, they would have needed his dental records to identify him. :p

Here's my analysis:Its interesting.
Iraq has no WMD, but invasion was justified to free an opressed people.
China kills more people than Iraq did, its people are not free, they have most favored trading status.
In Haiti, the people live in utter degradation, seen as hell on earth; people are near starvation, violence in the slums is unimaginable. When people try to escape to the US we turn them back. When the democratically elected leader is faced with a coup, we do nothing.
In Cuba the people have some of the best health care in the world and crime is virtually non-existent, but the people are not free. We accept those refugees with open arms.
When the dictators in Quait are ousted in an invasion, we reinstate the oppressive dictators.
The common denominator?
Profit. China and Wal Mart. Iraq and oil. Cuba and Florida’s electoral votes. Quait and oil.
Haiti? Nothing.
Pragmatism, really.

charlien--Soooo...we as a country should NEVER flex ANY muscle to look after OUR best interests ?
Being the biggest kid on the block, we could do a lot worse things than 'escort' an admittedly failed Haitian Prez off the premises...

How exactly were our best interests served by removing Aristide, Tom O?charlie

Haiti was quickly descending into anarchy...not in their interest, or ours...don't want refugees or a scenario that degrades so far that we have to commit serious troop numbers...

You are of the "policemen of the world" persuassion, I am not. Saddam posed no direct threat, and neither did Aristide. charlie

Someone eMailed FoxNews suggesting that Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters escort Jean Betrand Aristide back into Haiti and "straighten out" this mess.'Sounds like a good idea to me... I would even contribute to Jesse Jackson's ticket to accompany them. :D[ 03-02-2004: Message edited by: billPhillips ]
