Editor's Note: Maine Gov. Angus S. King, Jr. endorsed a Maine gay anti-discrimination ballot question in 1995 or 1997? Gov. King even appeared in t.v. ads. That ballot measure was defeated.
Gov. Baldacci signed same-sex marriage into law. He was keynote speaker at at least one No on 1 fundraiser, spoke publicly in support of No on 1. And even made get-out-the-vote robocalls for No on 1. And the measure was defeated.

Governor Baldacci is asking Mainers join his family in voting No on Question 1

My sister, Sharon, got a GOVT robo-call from Governor John Baldacci. Here's what he said:
Hello, this is Governor John Baldacci. Today's Election Day. And, I hope you'll join my family in voting No on Question 1. Let's make sure all Maine families have equal protection under the constitution. And, the only way to do that is to vote today and to vote no on 1. Thank you very much.
