The text of the speech, had

The text of the speech, had it been delivered by a Reagan or someone with passion and a heart, could have moved the needle in regards to public opinion.

Instead it appeared as though he wanted to go off script and make it all about himself. It was truly an underwhelming performance.

The rebuttal by the other two old white people was a WTF moment as well...

If you are an American and

If you are an American and try to cross into Canada and have an OUI on your license, they won’t let you cross. You can apply for a special dispensation but it takes months. But the US should just have open borders with zero vetting.......wicked smart .

John in the interests of the native Mainers I think you have to correct your spelling. It's spelled "smaht".

Ahhh, johnw when did Canada

Ahhh, johnw when did Canada build their wall to keep us out? Most of the border is woods which, if so inclined, one can walk right over.

So when an no native crosses the border "seeking asylum and are release into the general population to attend a hearing at a later date ,how much vetting is that? All they need to do is get across.... wall or no wall.

"When during the campaign, I would say 'Mexico is going to pay for it,' obviously, I never said this, and I never meant they're gonna write out a check, I said they're going to pay for it. They are," he said as he prepared to depart the White House for the southern border."

How many times did I see his adoring crowds during the campaign chant “Mexico!, Mexico!!, Mexico!!!” after he asked them who was going to pay for the wall?

Mexico will pay dearly for

Mexico will pay dearly for the wall when the immigrants from the third world shitholes find they can't cross after being enticed to come by the Soros funded groups at play.
Just ask the officials in Tijauna.

Mexico will also pay for the

Mexico will also pay for the wall when family remittances from illegals dries up, and when the billions in the drug trade are curtailed. Mexico absolutely does not want a wall because of the cash flow problems it will cause, not only to them but to their South American friends. Mexico is going to pay for the wall bigly.

Amazing, isn't it. When Obama

Amazing, isn't it. When Obama says you can keep your plan and your doctor, nobody will hold him to it.

Now everything is taken so literally, right down to the comma. It's a negotiating position. A starting point from which to haggle. Who cares if it's a wall, fence, camera zone, drone zone, military artillery range. Who cares how it's paid for. I don't.

If we don't need to know who is coming over the border, then we don't need Real ID, passports required for travel on planes or trains, the Coast Guard, or the TSA. All of it is a total waste.

There's no point locking all the Windows if you insist on leaving the Door open...

The press held Obama's feet

The press held Obama's feet to the fire on this one as well.....hen former President Obama was just Barack Obama running for the White House, he indicated that if elected, he could, like the creator of the universe, calm the rising seas. So how did that work out for him?

Not so good.
J
In une 2008, when Obama knew that he had clinched the Democratic nomination, he claimed that it "was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal." Not only is Obama not a deity who controls the earthly waters, he's not a good forecaster, either.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported last June that "sea level has been rising over the past century, and the rate has increased in recent decades. In 2014, global sea level was 2.6 inches (67 mm) above the 1993 average — the highest annual average in the satellite record (1993-present). Sea level continues to rise at a rate of about one-eighth of an inch (3.2 mm) per year, due to a combination of melting glaciers and ice sheets, and thermal expansion of seawater as it warms."

So there's been no slowing in "the rise of the oceans" under Obama. Just a natural steady increase every year, according to NOAA. Obama apologist Think Progress has even said that increases that are "much faster than we thought" – of course that's just what the political left wants the public to believe – though it's clear that while the seas have been rising for 10,000 years, there has been no acceleration.

Right now, there is

Right now, there is approximately 580 miles of existing fence along the border. Not all in a single expanse, but discontinuous. According to Fox News, this 5.7 billion dollar centerpiece of the current stalemate represents, according to DHS officials, the funding to cover the construction of 215 miles of “wall system” on the southern border. It would cover the replacement of existing “dilapidated” fencing, new wall sections and secondary wall structures, as well as roads and lights for Border Patrol agents. The total NEW wall will be about 100 miles. The entire border is about 2,000 miles.

Now I will grant you that 100 miles of new, strategically placed wall will hamper some existing sweet spot crossings, even less than brilliant Latinos, ISIS terrorists and MS-13 gang bangers will soon realize there’s over a thousand miles of unfenced border to get redirected to.

So, even if Trump gets what he wants, it’s simplistic and not accurate to proclaim that this will fix the humanitarian and immigration crises on the border. It is at best only the first installment on a funding battle that will play out over many years, if a truly secure coast-to-coast wall system is the goal. There’s a whole lot of pandering going on now to convince the Trump base that this is the “solution”, and many of them are buying in. As in any political battle, the arguments on both sides are boiled down to sound bite level, eventually lowering the discussion to the ridiculous level that we are seeing now.

Despite any flaws President Trump has, one thing that he has accomplished is raising awareness on several different fronts, border security,trade,military....he’s jumped started the debate that the party of status quo has so successfully stifled for so many years...
