Cynthia Dill misses Key Augusta Vote to Attend a Party; What Would She Do in Washington?!?!

Look at Roll Call #496 for LD 1746, the governor's supplement budget which passed the State Senate on party lines 19-14-2 Tuesday. And who was one of the two absent, not voting? Democrat Cynthia Dill of Cape Elizabeth, who thinks she is such a perfect legislator that she should sit in the United States Senate!!
http://www.mainelegislature.org/LawMakerWeb/rollcall.asp?ID=280043557&ch...
She can't say campaigning was more important. Plowman (US Senate candidate), Courtney (1st CD candidate) and Raye (2nd CD candidate) found it more valuable use of their time to show up and vote the people's business than be out on the hustings.
One hopes Democrats will pay attention to this Roll Call and see what they're getting if they give their nomination to Dill. (BTW: Brannigan, another Democrat, was the other Absent, not voting.)
Don't underestimate her. In the past few years, Dill has proven herself to be both delusional in her self-importance and the very model of a modern political opportunist. If history is any guide, she'll pounce the next time she sees an opportunity to advance her game.
In that she seems largely familiar with the Chellie Pingree playbook, I rather expect her to take a highly visible position with some left-wing think tank, probably in Washington, then jump back into a prominent Maine race (Governor, US Rep or US Senate) when the opportunity presents itself some years hence.
The difference, of course, is that Pingree actually generated a significant track record while in the Maine legislature, which in no small part helped her with her steps into Common Cause and the US House. Dill seems to have skipped that chapter of the playbook.
I'm in Cape Elizabeth, and I can tell you: She's a FLAKE.
A total FLAKE!
She can always be relied upon to chase the next shiny object.
But Rest Assured - she will never get close to a US Senate Seat!
Flake or no flake, the dems don't have a chance here. It's between Angus and the pub. Focus your attention there. Dill and the moonbats are just a sideshow. Enjoy it, but don't take it seriously.
Report from Facebook, as to Dill's whereabouts during the Senate vote on the DHHS budget:
"... last night on Twitter. Maine Senator Cynthia Dill was tweeting pictures from a 'house party' on Munjoy Hill while the Maine Senate was working on and eventually voting on the DHHS budget. Doesn't it give you the warm & fuzzies?"
Great job, from the Cocktail Candidate!

The U.S. Senate Democrats haven't had a budget for 2 years. So Dill must figure she doesn't need to vote on stupid budgets.
Meanwhile, the other absent Senator during last night's budget vote was Joe Brannigan. Let's play a guess -- same house party on Munjoy Hill? Reunion event at Shalom House?
In February 2012, Brannigan announced that he would not seek re-election, citing a lack of enthusiasm and the loss of his committee chairmanship when the Maine Republican Party took control of the Maine Senate in the 2010 election.

I'm sure his "loss of enthusiasm" has nothing to do with ongoing questions about his running Shalom House while serving on the Appropriations Committee all those years.
Maine Senator Cynthia Dill was tweeting pictures from a 'house party' on Munjoy Hill while the Maine Senate was working on and eventually voting on the DHHS budget.
Isn't this rich? This speaks volumes about her dedication to anything that does not benefit her.
People should be more worried about King than Dill....this is a statewide race and Dill will lose outside greater Portland...
Not to worry, Bob - as you've seen, AMG has a thread on King, too - " The King Files."
However, it's notable that Dill isn't even serving her Scarborough, South Portland and Cape Elizabeth constituents well now, in that she chose to attend a party instead of the Senate vote. I think it's reasonable to make that clear, so that voters have the information when her number's up again in Augusta.
As far as I'm concerned, she is doing the people of her district and the people of the state a very big favor by staying away from Augusta.
Oh, I agree, particularly if she did so on a permanent basis. Until then, she's being paid a salary and benefits to do a job, not to campaign at house parties on Munjoy Hill.
Point well taken Naran, particularly in light of Senator PLowman leaving the candidate forum in Lewiston to get back to Augusta for voting Tuesday evening....shows who understands the priorities.
I think we're going to need a new category for this one.

Cynthia Dill has proudly announced that former MaineHousing Director Dale McCormick is endorsing her for US Senate.

Does a chair massage and a gift card come with the endorsement?
Next we'll be seeing an endorsement from Paul Violette, too... I'm sure of it.
One can only hope that Ms. McCormick continues to endorse others...the gift that keeps on giving!
It sounds like the Campaign go misfit toys.
I'm thankful we'll get 5 more months of entertainment from Mrs. Dill.
Pretty thin entertainment, Rufus...maybe if she took to wearing a funny hat like Tom Connoly. Anyway, the big question is will she be able to match Connoly's 50K votes/12% in November.
It will be entertaining to watch the Pretender battle the Pretentious.
Being a former truck driver, I like shiny things.
I may vote for her...............
As far as I'm concerned, every vote for Dill is one more that King won't receive. A vote for Cynthia Dill is basically a vote for Charlie Summers. I might volunteer to do signs for candidate Dill !
A moderately amusing column from Nemitz today, about how the Maine and National Dems aren't exactly overjoyed by Dill's win.
If you can get by the cheez-y slaps at LePage and Poliquin, it's actually fairly good reporting and analysis.
"My biggest challenge," [Dill said], "is convincing Maine people that their fear and anxiety around the 2010 gubernatorial race and the subsequent agenda that the LePage administration rolled out shouldn't be the basis for the decision as to who should be their voice in Washington."
Maybe so. But even as Dill expands her fledgling operation into full-campaign mode, the steady migration of skittish Democrats toward King is well under way.
I figure a lot of liberals voted for Dill just to make sure Angus wins.
zmogus, this Ron Paul supporter will vote for Summers, but I know quite a few big tent republicans that plan to vote for King. Not trying to sound negative, but my predictions are, Summers, 15%, Dill, 20%, King, 55%.
Bob - I appreciate you being willing to vote for Summers, and support the R party candidate.

I will Naran, but they are the big tent variety who have already made up their minds.
PS: Apollo, the R's who said they are voting for King are NOT Ron Paul supporters. They support Romney.
Can you please point your friends to the following articles on King? Thanks.
They really are not friends, they are people I come in contact with every day.

Dill isn't going anywhere. She quite simply does not have the support of the labor unions or gun owners. Two very powerful constituencies in this State. That does not even account for her support of a North Woods park. If she is in fact nominated by the Democrats to run for Senate it will only be to make Angus King look even more appealing to liberals. That is what I would do. I have no idea what this woman will end up doing next, but I know it won't involve the Maine legislature or the US Senate.
