Dirigo's Phony Savings

I was chatting with a man this morning that is very familiar with the Dirigo "savings" numbers. Get this:

1. Baldacci claimed savings of 133 million or so.

2. Iuppa certified a bit over 42 million or so.

3. Of the 42 million, 40 million came as the result of provider cut backs not associated with Dirgo.

So,

Dirigo savings approximated 2 million.

Sources of Dare-I-Go expense:

1) Phony ad campaign ("come join Maine's fastest growing health insurance plan")
2) Subsidies to employees
3) Admin for another layer of bureaucracy up in Skowhegan
4) Billable hours to pay for a phony study

We shall see if the Chamber, business groups or any of the other stakeholders getting stuck with the Dare-I-Go tax have the stones to file suit and dispute the decision.

Word is they have not committed!

Everyone knows you conservatives would rather let people die than have health care if they can't afford it.

I think the conservatives would rather have a smart aproached to health care - you know, one with high risk pools and the what not.

Conservatives would rather see people have a fair opportunity to address their own health needs rather than be forced unto government boondogles.

Usually,
If this plan suits you and you believe the bile the Gov. is shoving down the tax payers throat, do me a favor. Pay my portion of what it will cost me would you.
Thanx

Wow. Usually, you're really a sick MOFO. Could you explain perhaps how you come up with the DU endorsed
absolutely false BS statement with a straight face?
Or would you rather just cave now and stick your D*CK between your legs and go crying into the wilderness?

WHO wants to kill insurance?

Excuse me!

Democrats began the death spiral in 1993, running out over 10 health insurance carriers.

Democrats ramped up the expansion of MaineCare.

Democrats witheld $350 Million from the hospitals for services rendered, which causes them to raise costs to those who actually pay.

Democrats opposed any legislation which would have lowered the cost of health insurance and given Maine families more choices in coverage.

Republicans offered all the real and time tested solutions in the last three years.

The democrats stopped them.

Or were you referring to "Conservative democrats?"

Usually Concerned: thinking like that makes you an excellent contender to become a Darwinian Awards candidate. Good luck!

What a bigot. That's simply untrue and you know it.

The neolibs in control today in Augusta, the ones like the titular head of our government that you seem to love, are on a course that drives the price of health insurance up so nobody can afford it. It is a proven fact our rates are 25-300% more than just about any place else "back in America" thanks to the liberals in Augusta.

So right back at you, UC, the Neolib policies in Augusta are driving people into the uninsured.

I wonder how many people die as a result?

affordable health insurance and a persons health are mutually exclusive.

As someone said yesterday, Maine is America's own "little Germany."

UC can study their circumstances over there, and see if that's what he wants.

Socialism, european style. So nuanced, so elite.

Or UC can study the on-going experiment/disaster of Single Payer in Canada.

Up in parts of Quebec they like it so much that when somebody has cancer they pack their bags and go to that center of highly-regarded medicine -- LEWISTON. Now, don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for the caring professionals at CMMC (I was born there) -- but if either I or one of my loved ones had cancer I dare say that's not where we'd be headed. Maybe Portland...more likely Boston.

Point is, anything that Lewiston has (which you and I,again with all due respect, might consider less than acceptable) better facilities and professionals than most of Quebec. They are going broke and don't have the money to finance the infrastructure and hire enough doctors.

The Quebec Supreme Court recently issued a ruling which confirmed, among other things, that people with chronic illnesses are dying while they wait for treatment.

So before UC or anybody spews off that Conservatives are less than concerned with the common welfare (you've been reading too much Dickens "decrease the surplus population" type stuff) think again. We are for putting affordable options in peoples hands so they can take personal responsibility. This is TRICKLE UP ECONOMICS (an old saying that I just made up). When people can do for themselves they need less of government.

Of course the Neolib policies here in Maine go just the other way. More dependence on govt. The end up with endentured voters. The underclass becomes enslaved by "free" services of the upper class govt. FDR in his 1935 State of the Union address described this propensity as a "narcotic" of the people; he would spin in his grave now if he knew how much we are encouraging people to "shoot up".

Why should the enslaved do any better for themselves, if only to lose Medicaid, food stamps and other forms of "assistance." Sure many work their way out of it -- and my hat is off to them. Too many, however, fall into the assistance becoming a permanent way of life.
