FJH - Good news! There is one more, much newer independent newspaper in Maine. Check out the York Independent.http://www.york-independent.com/Their editor, Paul Mann is awesome. The publications' motto is "Committed to the Jeffersonian Ideal of An Informed Electorate."

Jon Reisman was snowed out of a talk on climate change policy at the
Ellsworth Public Library, no doubt to the relief of House Natural Resources
Chair Rep. Ted Koffman (D-Bar Harbor). Reisman has been rescheduled to June 4 and will also tentatively speak in Dexter on April 12. Green activists
have responded to his advocacy with ad hominem attacks in the Bangor Daily
News by Dr. Robert Kates (March 8) and Dr. Paul Liebow (March 18).

Thank goodness for the Ellsworth American, which had the picture above and has covered this unfolding story.

The Ellsworth American is the last independent paper in Maine....the spirit of their founder is still alive, and the irony in the photo is not lost on their many readers.fjh.
