Justin Rood Reports:

A terrorist watch list compiled by the FBI has apparently swelled to include more than half a million names.

Privacy and civil liberties advocates say the list is growing uncontrollably, threatening its usefulness in the war on terror.

The bureau says the number of names on its terrorist watch list is classified.

A portion of the FBI's unclassified 2008 budget request posted to the Department of Justice Web site, however, refers to "the entire watch list of 509,000 names," which is utilized by its Foreign Terrorist Tracking Task Force.

I wonder if vocal second amendment advocates are included on the list.

You'd better believe they are, lumped in with the likes of Tim McVeigh. Let's not forget that it was an act of domestic terrorism that spawned Bill Clinton's draconian "Omnibus Anti-Terrorism Act of 1995". But then at half a millon names, so is anyone who has done as much as put a piece of old gum under their chair at the public library.

So how many Americans are we now? 250 million?

So one of every 500 Americans is on the list. And if we only count adults, it must be one of every 300 Americans.

So each and every person reading this knows someone on the list.

Who is the terrorist that you know?

Right. You don't.

This is pure Public Choice Economic Theory at work. Gov't exists to serve itself, while convincing you that it serves you.

Thanks Republicans!
