Forcing our doctors' hands
...by insisting that all doctors must participate in such procedures, regardless of their personal beliefs, the college is taking sides. Like human rights tribunals and commissions, it is placing the rights of women and gays ahead of those of doctors and people of faith, whether they are Jews, Muslims, Christians or others.
The college is not seeking justice, it is demanding conformity. It is not striving for "choice" for patients and doctors, it is attempting to force acceptance of one political and moral view on everyone.
Canada's Human Rights Commissions a Threat to Academic Freedom
OTTAWA, August 27, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com)
...Canada's lack of protection for free speech, as demonstrated by the recent prosecutions of conservative journalists by the HRCs, is an impediment for an organisation that supports no particular political agenda, either left or right. The American Political Science Association is the largest association for political thinkers in the world and is constitutionally bound to complete neutrality and total academic freedom to investigate, publish and speak on all political subjects.
"Our belief is that the APSA should choose its sites carefully, with particular regard for questions of freedom of speech and conscience. We therefore believe Canada to be a problematic destination," Watson said.
Vatican Equates Christianophobia with Anti-Semitism
September 2, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com )
Fear and hatred of Christians and Christianity is taking hold around the world, a high level Vatican prelate said this weekend, following a series of attacks in India against Christians. Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, the Secretary for Relations with States for the Holy See, said that "Christianophobia" must be countered as strongly as anti-Semitism.
Mamberti told a conference, titled "Protection and the Right to Religious Freedom," in northern Italy, "In order to promote this dignity in an integral way, so-called 'Christianophobia' should be combated as decisively as 'Islamophobia' and anti-Semitism." Christianophobia consists, he said, of three major divisions: misinformation about Christians, intolerance and discrimination, and violence and persecution. "Sadly," he said, these prejudices are still a burning concern.
Professor Myers still on the job
WASHINGTON, DC, September 18, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com)
Myers' latest screed of religious intolerance on his blog Pharyngula incited an all-out internet attack against Koelzer. Threats and hate mail inundated Koelzer's e-mail after he inadvertently sent Myers a speaking invitation.
"I would enjoy speaking at your church or your organization's conference or other event. I also would be honored to have you share my apostolate in your blog etc. To learn more about my apostolate, please see http://www.prolifepharmacy.com," Koelzer's invitation read.
An outraged Myers asked his blog readers to flood Koelzer's Web site with mail. They replied en masse with over 400 threats of profanity and hate-filled messages including:
"Burn the building to the ground. And have Mike Koelzer sterilized."
There appears to have been no repercussions to Myers career, unlike Dixon. Double standard.
More on Mike Koelzer
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, September 18th, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com)
In 2002, Kay Pharmacy in Grand Rapids, Michigan made a public decision to longer sell any form of contraceptives, including birth control and condoms.
Koelzer told Faithandconscience.com that his reasons for eliminating birth control can be traced directly to the literature found on the insert in most oral contraceptive boxes.
"It came down to God's teaching through the Catholic Church on the sanctity of all human life and on contraception. The Church teaches that all contraception is intrinsically evil. But, there is yet a further problem with hormonal contraceptives in how they work, which is sometimes killing a newly formed life," Koelzer related.
"It is the third mechanism of action (the alteration in the endometrium which reduces the likelihood of implantation), which can kill a newly formed member of the human family by not allowing the new life to attach to the mother's uterus."
4 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Maybe out of all the billions of people, Jeremiah was the only person that God ever formed in his mother’s womb or knew before he was even conceived. I doubt it, but could be…(KR)
"There are people who had a lot of respect for the Mormons who now say, 'Well, they're just like the Christian right.' "
That's ironic, Shipps said, given that the Mormon Church has a more tolerant stance on homosexuality than some evangelical groups. The church has pointedly declined to state that homosexuality is a choice. And it has cautioned against programs that purport to "cure" same-sex attraction, even though Mormon theology holds that marriage is a divine relationship between men and women that continues into the afterlife.

State sides with lesbian couple in fight against Ocean Grove association
by MaryAnn Spoto/The Star-Ledger
Tuesday December 30, 2008, 12:18 AM
The state Division on Civil Rights ruled Sunday a lesbian couple can move forward with a discrimination complaint against Ocean Grove for refusing to let them use an oceanfront pavilion for a civil union.
Preview of upcoming events!
Although Prime Minister David Cameron has tried to assure British churches that any new same-sex marriage legislation will apply only to civil law, lawyers from the Church of England are arguing that the new legislation would force them to perform same-sex ceremonies in spite of their beliefs.
The Purveyors of Perversion will not stop until they achieve it all!
