The ATM's at the convenience

The ATM's at the convenience store would be doing less business? Reduction in drug use? Rich liberals such as Sussmen, King, Cutler, Alfond etc will pick up the slack?

What would happen if EBT cards were not filled today?

Rich people would be robbed.

Kinda the whole reason EBT card exists. Keeps 49 million people from breaking into our houses.

Several weekend and weekDAY night parties in my neighborhood would be canceled this week. The graveyard shift local cops might get bored from not going to a dozen disturbances, loud parties, and other incidents that usually spike during the first of the month week.

Pingree says it's the Tea

Pingree says it's the Tea Party's fault!

She and King Angus must have hired the same speechwriters.

Pingree blames Tea Party for government shutdown.

I bet she thinks the Tea Party are "murderers," too.

Cyndy Williams, WCSH6, wringing her hands, quite upset about this shutdown disaster - parks closed, furloughs...But wait - Cyndy is happy about the good news today - ObamaCare healthcare exchanges are opening!

There is a provision in the shutdown to allow SNAP benefits to continue for 30 days with potential extensions, but processing new requests will be slowed.

Huh? Oh. You mean more rich people would be illegally robbed and opposed to government legally imposed robbery to fund the EBT cards.

Actually, Btruce is correct that they would just use their other one (card), or two, or three of ten - however many they have.

Eric Cantor and @RepTomGraves

House GOP put forward reasonable proposals to keep govt open. We offered to talk, Senate Ds didn't show.

I guess if/when EBT refills

I guess if/when EBT refills come to a halt, people who work can just open their wallets and purses, and let the EBTers take the money directly out of them.

Nothing, I repeat nothing,

Nothing, I repeat nothing, pisses me off more than the refusal of congressional 'public servants' refusing to subject themselves to the same programs the little people have to deal with.

I cannot believe this doesn't cause a shooting war. And Naran, the words "pisses me off" belong here, thank you.

As to Government 'shut down?' I'd prefer to see the Federal Government go out of business, rather than shut down. Except for a few necessities, like national defense and selected others.

It's time for them to fail in the classic economic/private enterprise sense. You've probably all heard the term 'creative destruction.' That's what we need here.

At USC, the cheers used to be 'rape, pillage, plunder.' I'm more than ready for the political, highly partisan equivalent.

No more Mr. Nice Guy here. Think I'll have some pins made up.

Melvin -- you won't get any arguments from me. Like you, I am thoroughly tired of and disgusted by the luxury lifestyle enjoyed by our Federal lords and ladies and the staffers, and their slush-fund spending on their own comforts. The collective and self-serving waste of tax dollars in DC needs to end.

We need Federal term limits, both House and Senate, and we need to get rid of their subsidized luxuries. Make them bring their own lunch, and pay full price for their own health care, haircuts and flowers.
