"You still don't get it. It

"You still don't get it. It is not the cost of gasoline alone but your time."

Al said he was retired, which means he has lots of time and not as much money. He's optimizing for his situation.

No, he is making a conscious

No, he is making a conscious choice as to what to do with his time. Whether I would make a similar choice is my business.

We are all making conscious

We are all making conscious choices about what to do with our time.

But for some (kids, job), time is extremely valuable, and others (retired, or a kid) time is plentiful.

If you're retired and want to save 25% on your grocery bill, spending 10 extra minutes driving is a very low price to pay. If you have demanding kids and work 10 hours a day, 10 minutes is everything and is worth paying the 25% premium.

I'm not sure why you disagree with this?

Hey, Al; time to get over

Hey, Al; time to get over yourself.

Can't you see that pmcon knows what you're doing better than you do yourself?

He found it in the Constitution.

AC Yes I've got plenty of

AC Yes I've got plenty of time. In terms of the money, saving $ has always been a concern of mine. Eg I'd never buy a Rolex because to me it wouldn't tell time any better than my Pulsar. I've never been into grandstanding.

Make sure the next time an election or referendum issue comes up, that the pols don't use the plastic signs that go over the metal 2-post frame. Those are plastic bags... and I tend to find them in the woods and forests long after elections are over.

I stopped working for a

I stopped working for a living in 1985 and have now been what most would call retired for longer than I was gainfully employed. I saved most of my income and invested wisely. I did not stop working and I tried golf, stained glass, cabinetmaking, gardening and a lot of home improvement and repair. I have also had the time to ponder the ultimate question, why. In answering that question I have penned four books, the first a text on Project Management that I taught at MIT while working on my doctorate in Engineering. The last three covered the flaw in the capitalist economic system and how our own government has unconstitutionally tried to correct that flaw and retain the inequality naturally occurring in it. My latest effort is an autobiography of which I have gotten to my life up until 1971 and is therefore still a work in progress.

I consider my time valuable because I' have not wasted it, at least in my own opinion. My nest egg is still large enough to cover my expenses, which includes a one month trip to Europe each year to visit friends and I don't fly economy, having logged nearly 2 million air miles in first class during my business career. No, I didn't inherit it, my parents died having more friends than money. I watch my pennies because the dollars seem to take care of themselves without my help.

I don't care how other people save or don't save because it is none of my business. I do care about the truth and try to counter lies wherever I find them. I offer suggestions offer as to how to save and others can accept or reject them. Those who criticize what I do and say should mind their own business like 99% of the readers on this blog.

You will never understand while the% does what they do it is because you manage to crap on 100% of readers.
It isn't what you do or say it is about how you say things.
