Along with the federal registry, the bill also proposes a federal licensing requirement for all gun owners. In order to get a license, a person would have to submit a photo, thumbprint, their address, a release of their mental health records, and more to the United States Attorney General. Current gun owners would have two years to acquire a license or forfeit their guns to the government.

They will stop at nothing. Silly me, I thought the stimulus bill was about jobs. DOH! The insurance bill in Illinois is simply another back door to your pocket to discourage ownership, and make it more expensive. NONE of these laws do anything to stop illegal guns or the violence they are used for, they only target lawful gun owners.

Dear Mr. Carmichael

This is your final notice to surrender your firearms to the US Attorney General.

Response: What guns? I sold those years ago through a private sale. Your records are not accurate and the US Constitution never required a bill of sale for firearms. Better luck harassing some other chump. The Volstead Act for guns is DOA.

The stimulus does not seem to have anything to do with this stupid idea, which would require separate passage in Congress. As I do not believe the left really wants this fight now, what with all their efforts devoted to killing capitalism and all. Soon they will try to kill our health care and the fight over both will be epic.

Tell them Congresscretins to leave our guns alone & turn their efforts to getting the moonshine out of our gas tanks. My snowblower won't run worth dang, thanks to their "help." Perhaps mizz pelosi could visit & wield a shovel? Maybe Elliott Ness could help. Ma Barker? Maine had a proud but unsung part in running rum in them thar rum-running days.

It seems like everywhere you turn lately there's something about HR 45. I've had people tell me that it already passed, or that it was in the "stimulus" package, etc. People are really getting worked up, yet it has no co-sponsors, and no hearing scheduled. There's a lot of misinformation in the chain e-mails that are being forwarded around.

I'm getting concerned that it's becoming real distraction from the other gun control measures that have a much more likely chance of being implemented.

I heard this morning that we have a current bill in Augusta that will require us to register all firearms and pay a fee for each one...since I haven't been able to find anything about this in writing, does anyone know if this is true? I sincerely hope it's a bad rumor, but it came from a reliable source.

 Mark, this is certainly something we should follow. If you hear more I'm sure you'll keep us posted.
