UNANIMOUS OUGHT NOT PASS
I second that. Just possibly they're learning that gun controls do not work but enforcement of the law does.
Thanks SOS! Any details? All I can find posted anywhere is this: LD778 Status

Duh, thats because you were talking about LD361 and I just ASSumed you meant the bad Weinstien bill. I was reading waiting period but thinking concealed carry. My Bad! ;) LD361 Info
There is still no updated info there but I got it "by good authority" that this was indeed the case and that SOS is completely correct. This is the foolish 10-Day waiting period for those already of legal age that has been introduced and defeated numerous times already. Maybe it is time to put this one to bed.

Where can we read the actual wording of this proposed legislation? Personally, I think Concealed Carry Permits have enough qualifications already, and don't need any "enhancing."
I agree that there are sufficient qualifying requirements already in place. You can read the bill here:
I SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED THE LD NUMBER.
I was listening on line and just didn't think to include it.
This is the one that Jerkofski kept alive today,
he ended up changing his vote after
they were done or something.
he's an idiot first class. (that's his rank in the legislature)
Yes; It's back and will go to the Democrat house for a vote. This where the skeet shooters and muzzle loaders could split from the human rights (Second Amendment) folks and pass this outrage.
I heard on the radio last night MPR did a bit on this - it was set up as an emotional piece. I could only stand about 10 minutes, but I did hear Ethan strimling made an incredible statement - to the effect "I would never try to pass a piece of legislation that would deny anyone their gun rights." The guy is a shameless liar.
I think it was George Smith from SAM did a very good job for our side, I thought he was a slam dunk. Charlotte Albright I thought was terrible, didn't seem well informed as to the facts, and weasley pushing the liberal myths, I thought.
A 12 TO 1 out of committee sends a message and I would bet the liberals
will get a decent showing in the house and the senate will kill it.
I hope somebody can list the names of every legislator who votes in favor of this legislation. It would be great campaign ammo in the next election: "Look what this Gun-Grabbing pinko tried to do to your gun rights!" Most Mainers don't want their gun rights stolen. I know plenty of Democrats who would vote against their party if they were shown that their candidate was anti-gun!
Thanks for unlocking this, Scott.
If I am not mistaken, anyone under the age of 18 cannot purchase firearms or ammunition at all in this state, so this law would have less effect than I bet it's being "sold" to have. I bet the publik skool heroes over under the green dome didn't even bother to talk to a psychologist, much less do a little online research into suicide in the age group they purport to protect.
If the legislature is serious about suicide prevention, they'll outlaw belts, short lengths of rope, and other items used for strangulation suicides. Suffocation is rising and passing firearms for suicide among younger adults. Reasons for suicide are chiefly depression, leading one to ask: Why?
I'm all for getting at the root of a problem. Where and how young people develop their sense of self? There are two sources: parental and peer group. I'm not advocating legislation to "solve" this problem, but what does fall under legislative authority? Public schools and the tax burden that causes parents to spend more time working, and often requires both parents to work, leaving less time for the kids.
Naw, we couldn't do that.

Gerzofsky scares me ALL MOST as much as Strimling. Together they make a perfect team for the anti-American hate groups to utilize. Strimling is well known for wanting to Ban and Confiscate legally owned firearms, even mandating their seizure and forfeiture in past legislation. He is a poster boy for Sarah Brady and company. Gerzofsky has been a lap dog of Ethan’s for several years and he gives the perception of using an entirely different angle. He claims to be a gun owner (I believe he said once he was even a gun dealer) and "the voice of reason." He claims to be a friend of the gun owners, being one himself, yet he votes in favor of every gun bill to pass in front of him. If he really is a gun owner he is extremely ignorant about them, listening to some of his reasons for supporting Strimlings past offerings. If he really does own a gun I can only picture it as being wrapped in several layers of skidder chain and locked to a steel pole inside of a sealed closet. He has to be that scared of these inanimate objects to support some of the unconstitutional restrictions that he has voted for in the past.
People know that Strimling is a whacko lefty and he makes no bones about it himself. Gerzofsky pretends to NOT BE, but votes like one. That scares me and makes them the Dynamic Duo of the Anti-Gun, Anti-American Hate Groups. If you have any question, look at what he just pulled with this bill. It is not an exception to the rule.............
I just watched the MaineWatch show on this subject. It was interesting to see Strimling talking about supporting parental consent and waiting periods. He would never support parental consent or waiting periods for abortion.
Has there ever been a rabidly Pro-Gun candidate put up against Strimling, or are most of the voters in his district gun-banning commies like him?
The answer to both your questions is Yes.
