Have We Accepted Outrageous Gas Prices as New Normal?
Have we finally accepted these outrageous gas prices as the new normal?

I have written letters to all of our Maine Representatives in Congress, wrote letters to the Editor in the Morning Sentinel, and researched up and down on the reasons why gasoline prices are so outrageous. It has become so disheartening that we never hear anything about what is being done to curb what I feel is our number one economy killer, high fuel prices. Have we all become complacent and accepted this robbery as the new normal? What do we have to do to get this important issue back in the forefront? Does gas have to be five, six, even seven dollars a gallon before we get anybody's atttention? What happened to the outrage? Anybody?

The press’s job is to stand in the ramparts and protect the liberty and freedom of all of us from a government and from organized governmental power. When they desert those ramparts and decide that they will now become active participants, that their job is not simply to tell you who you may vote for, and who you may not, but, worse—and this is the danger of the last two weeks—what truth that you may know, as an American, and what truth you are not allowed to know, they have, then, made themselves a fundamental threat to the democracy, and, in my opinion, made themselves the enemy of the American people.
