Here is what is driving the .22 ammo "shortage"...

A friend of mine called me early yesterday morning. He'd just returned from an early morning visit to the Wal-Mart in Ellsworth. When he pulled in the lot, there was an individual sitting alone in a car. As he was parking, another vehicle pulled up, four guys got out, joined the lone guy in the car, and headed in to the store at the same time as my friend. As luck would have it, they were all headed the same place, the ammo case. My friend reports the shelf was full of .22 ammo when he got there. Anyway, there was a three brick limit on .22 ammo. The guy who was in the car starts directing the other four what to buy, they all get their limit of three bricks of .22 ammo (15 total), plus some other stuff with no limit, and head out. In a matter of fifteen minutes the .22 ammo was cleaned out. Upon leaving the store, my friend saw these five gents handling money in the parking lot. Obviously profiteers, or as they are known on the web, "ammo pigs". The solution is simple, STOP buying overpriced ammo from them! There is no government plot to buy all the ammo, the lead smelter closing is irrelevant, it is all driven by greed.
