If a door opens, walk in.
Old saying.

Last week Senate President Kevin Raye opened a door, offering me a job as Communications Director for the Maine Senate President.

I chose to walk in.

Senator Raye and I have known each other close to 20 years. I was surprised and honored by his offer. It is a great opportunity.

During my time as Communications Director AMG's Naran has agreed to take over the care and feeding of AMG as AMG's Managing Editor. Naran was the first AMGer to take care of AMG in my absence when I was on the road away from the internet sometimes for days. She has my full trust and confidence. Naran can be reached by PM (for registered AMGers) or by email at naran@asmainegoes.com .

I can still be reached at editor@asmainegoes.com during the transition period. And I encourage anyone with questions to feel free to ask me. Please don't waste precious time and energy speculating. Hypothesizing! Ask.

This last year, as I write, AMG had almost a quarter million Absolute Unique Visitors who visited AMG about 767,000 times to look at over 4 million AMG pages. Thank you. That is directly attributable to the great AMG online community.

I'll be back. Meanwhile, we have a great opportunity over the next two years to help turn Maine into a great place for creating new jobs. Let's do it.

Best,
Scott K Fish

Congratulations, Scott!

We'll take care of the place for you. We won't answer the door or play with matches. Much. :-)

I wish Scott the most heartfelt congratulations, and I will echo Michelle's promise to behave.... except that we might run with scissors.

Congratulations, Scott. I am sure you will do well. I am not so sure about the two previous promises of good behavior, but the rest of us will keep an eye on them for you.

Sheesh. That was quick... where's the parable about the "Doubting Thomas"?
lol

Seriously, Bob -- I promise to behave if you will.

Naran, get out the 45 records and Campbell's soup cans! Looks like we can have one big, long slumber party!

Why do I have to behave? No one left me in charge of anything. :)

But for you, I will try.......

Congratulations!!!

Maybe for Naran's first task as interim Managing Editor could be to fix the front page link to this thread so that it actually points to this thread!

Good luck to both of you! ;)

It wasn't me! It wasn't me! (I can still get away with saying that).

Thanks, Punk (meanwhile, being grateful he didn't PhotoShop my head onto a giant wooden spoon.....)

Yes, fix that link, Naran. It points to me (on my computer at least). That shouldn't happen to the Editor on his big day!

I have notified him, Media, and I have no doubt he will address it shortly.

Well, at least they'll have one conservative in the Senate office. Congratulations, Scott, and you certainly made a good choice for your managing editor.

Congratulations, Scott! It's wonderful to see a change in direction in Augusta and to see what that change brings.

Best of luck!

Naran, you'll be a wonderful Managing Editor! I'm wicked proud of you!

After reading stories on AMG about your past work experience and the founding of AMG, had a feeling we'd be seeing this story before too long. Congratulations, you'll do a wonderful job!

Another proof that if you keep the faith and stay the course, you can't keep a good man down.

Congratulations. I am sure this is a very valuable position that the State of Maine can afford and the legislature couldn't possibly live without.

I'm sure you're right, Deadbeat. Communicating to the people through the filter of a biased, indeed liberal activist press, is a critical position. Maine can ill afford to receive less than accurate, biased information regarding the affairs of government. Poor communication could lead to the people electing another Democrat legislature, and we've already seen the devastation caused by nearly 40 years of Democrat control.

Au contraire!

No spring chicken would either get the Campbell's soup can reference or know what that green gel was. But I daresay she's in fine company in the age department.

Good one, Earl.

Thankfully, as far as I know, neither Scott nor I can claim paternity from Clan Raye. I do, however, like mustard. (Oh, no!!)
