I answer all your questions, you just don't like the answers.
I guess this means that Olympia and/or Susan can vote against Judge Roberts, thereby pleasing both NARAL and those who believe that property rights are a foundation of freedom. It's a win-win.
Are you suggesting that is what they should do?
Scott:Why do you hate America and Bush - printing articles against his nominee??Chris.
Attorney Jim Burling has argued several times before the Supreme Court and has won. He is an excellent property rights attorney. He has been to Maine and helped us during the COMPACT threat. We won that one twice at the polls, but lost when George Bunker submitted Son of Compact which passed on the last day of the legislative session. This is disturbing news about Roberts. So far all we really know about him is that he's popular in the Washington DC high society circuit.
Chris: --I've met Jim Burling. I interviewed him on air back in 1999, I think, when Deb Plowman and I had a show on WVOM. Nice guy. Very smart. Very studied.I'm not too wrapped up in the legacy of any politicians, Chris. But I am very wrapped up in the legacy of our great nation. Burling's piece - no surprise - is well-written. That's why I posted it. Let the chips fall where they may.skf

Pacific Legal FoundationAfter a term marked by the Supreme Court’s utter contempt for property rights, those of us who happen to think there is something special about allowing old widows to keep their homes were not prepared for an even more bitter defeat.Source
This is not surprising me.[ 08-21-2005: Message edited by: Mark T. Cenci ]

He is a lawyer arguing his clients position. it says nothing about the mans personal positions.
Scott:I guess I'm asking this: Do you think this piece has merit - and that your thread title is accurate - that indeed Roberts will be a bad Sup Ct Justice? And if so is your criticism OK when criticism from the Left seems to be not allowed..Chris.
What are you talking about? Criticism from the left is allowed here at AMG. Also, Roberts has recieved significant criticism from the left.
FOLLOW THE DOLLAR.

George, I don't think my policy preferences have ever influenced our good Senators, except to oppose whatever I might support.
You are dodging the question.Do you believe that the concerns about Roberts' views on property rights justify a vote against his confirmation?

Sure. Of course, I don't think W is likely to nominate anyone better. But it would be a win-win for our Senators. they'd please there pro-abortion and environmentalist constituency, and folks like me won't complain.

That is what makes you the perfect candidate to beat Olympia next primary season.
