After a long fight at the State house with LD 35 it seems that the Maine Chamber is pulling out all the stops in their attempts to kill this bill in the Governors office under the extraneous guise of one Peter Gore! It seems the Peter can't understand that it is time to let the truth prevail and stop with the platitudes untenable information that he is passing off to Representatives and others now in the Governors office purely because he has been unable to win this fight on the facts! In a statement by Gore on LD 35 he said that LD 35 " is a recipe for disaster" and he has morphed this bill into much more than it is with wild claims of embellished workers comp claims, Insurance problems for employers and so on. But we in support of this bill that is clearly about PERSONAL PROPERTY RIGHTS of the INDIVIDUALS need to let the Governors office know the truth! Fact: the Bureau of Labor Statistics (2010) stated workplace shootings accounted for much less then 1% of fatalities and of those % 24 was it retail trade..i.e..Robberies and not done by law-abiding people that had CWP permits, and furthermore a Business Insurance article by REberto Ceniceros on " Comp Time" recently stated that " he "once asked industry professionals how workplace shootings impact an enployer's claim experience. The response he got is that there is not much of an impact because it's not something that is expected to frequently recur". So there goes the comp claim Mr. Gore is claiming. Lastly Newsweek recently stated" mass shooting always make big headlines but they'er only a small fraction of murders committed each year", "average annual homicides are less then 1%". FACTS, FACTS. FACTS, I could go on and on about case law and your vehicles also! Just let the Governors office know that LD 35 will be good for Maine and the the people (employees) of Maine just like the other 13 states that already have this law!

This might be a good time to contact governor's office to thank him for the hard work he's done and think him in advance for signing LD 35 into law.
