The Lepage 2010 campaign have collected more than the 2,000 signatures needed to place Waterville Mayor Paul Lepage on the ballot for June’s Republican Gubernatorial Primary and are collecting additional signatures as insurance to meet the March 15th filing deadline to qualify.
“Since January, over sixty unpaid volunteers gathered more than 2,200 signatures from Maine Republicans “, said Lepage volunteer. Scott Van Orman. “The extraordinary energy of our campaign staff and the enthusiasm that Paul’s candidacy has created at the recent town and county caucuses have given our campaign the momentum to be the first of the 23 gubernatorial candidates to leap over this first hurdle.”
Mayor Lepage submitted his signatures to the Secretary of State’s office the morning of February 26th. All signatures must be certified by the Secretary of State for validity. Once certified, Mayor Lepage will be set to appear on June’s Republican ballot.
