Jason J. Levesque, Republican candidate in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District, called on Rep. Mike Michaud to demand an apology from Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her “un-American” comments.
He said:
“Speaker Pelosi’s comments were yet another attempt by this Congress to legislate by fear and intimidation, First they tried to ram through a massive health care bill without giving the American people a chance to express their concerns. When they failed and were forced to face the American people, they heard the people and refused to listen, resorting instead to name calling.
“And where is Mike Michaud?
“Mike Michaud is so afraid of hearing the people that he has not had the courage to face them at a personal town hall meeting. Instead, he staged one highly-controlled teleconference, resorting to radio talk show-style call screeners to prevent opposing views from being heard. What is really ‘un-American’ is to stifle dissent in pursuit of government control over individual lives.
“It’s time for Mike Michaud to speak out in defense of Americans exercising their Constitutional right to free speech in expressing their opposition to the unpopular health care plan which will bankrupt taxpayers and diminish the quality of their health care.
“Mike Michaud must demand an apology from Speaker Pelosi.”
