Okay - these folks need to make up their minds. On Facebook yesterday, his campaign wrote that they "wanted to move on" from the incident, so it "wouldn't become a distraction." That was right before all reference to the library and the event being canceled disappeared off the page.

Now, today they're sending this? Still with no explanation of the reason given by the library for the event cancellation?

So, which is it, Levesque? Distraction, or No Distraction?

(with apologies to Howie Mandel.... ).

Meanwhile, this is still on his Facebook page:

* Meet Jason Levesque-Auburn!

Jason isn't running against the Democrats on the Auburn library board. He is running against Mike Michaud. Don't spend time on anything other than your opponent.

Here is the library's side.

Levesque called the library to set up the meet and greet. He was told he had to come in to sign a contract and go over the rules. He never showed up at the library, but went ahead and posted the meeting,

The reason for the move was due to a very Liberal board member who after seeing me on TV Thursday decided to have the Library cancel my event

After seeing the meeting posted on facebook, a former board member, who is a Republican, called someone to voice his concern about the fundraiser that violated the library's rule.

Levesque was called and asked to come in, he said he would be down shortly. He never showed. Another call between the library and Levesque took place. I can't remember who placed that call. Levesque supposedly got very abusive, and was told to contact the library's board president. He was provided with a contact number. I don't know if he ever called.

IMHO, Levesque knew the meeting violated library policy, but used this to created publicity that backfired on him.

I do not like politicians that play games. If this is true, he will be hard pressed to get my vote.

The people at the library have alway been very nice and proffesional.

Interesting, Robert. Thanks for the follow-up.

Are you able to state who you spoke to at the library, to get the information you posted? Just for the sake of veracity, and all that.

Ok, I may be in the minority here in not being overly impressed when JL passed out his new "team" resumes. If in fact Robert is right, I have to ask...isn't this a staffers job to coordinate meetings...why is JL making phone calls to get space and not a staffer. Isn't it his staff who should address this and get it fixed and not allow it to start to fester and a minor nuisance become more than it is?

I like Jason, and he has a chance. He is making rookie mistakes right now which his 'TEAM" should be heading off. Maybe a reorganization of the team is in order, if nothing else a good public flogging.....

I agree that this has been poorly handled. I asked a direct question on Facebook, and got zero response. Instead, the posts just disappeared. Then, we get the email that was posted above, today... outlining more accusations about the library event cancellation.

Meanwhile, Robert appears to have spoken or emailed with someone at the library who is giving a very different story.

I hope the person he communicated with at the library will send us a post, either through Scott or ask to post it themselves.

I think folks deserve to know both sides of the issue.

Robert - nice explanation and on the head! The local scuttlebutt in town says basically the same as you reported...This event was turned down because questions were not answered as to whether it was a fundraising event wich is prohibited by the library policies. As no one from the campaign could explain any differently, the event was taken off the bookings and the campaign was notified.

Levesque using the "democrats don't love us" as an excuse is bolgna in my book and will cost him more votes than he hoped to gain by pinning the tail on the donkey!

I don't know if this is a "he said, she said," but I think these are damning accusations.

That's why I'm hoping that a library spokesperson will go on record. If, in fact, they did nothing wrong, they should come forward and say so - it's only fair to their organization.

I just love the sound of Republicans eating their young.

Nice job. Ever heard of PM's?

No wonder no one steps up to the plate.

Bob - I tried to contact them privately via Facebook. No result, no response. The posts just disappeared off the Facebook page, and my email and private messages were not returned, either.

I cannot speak for the author of this thread, but I suspect the intention to ask for help from AMG members was well-meant, as it appeared from Levesque's Facebook post that a wrong had been done both to him, and to his campaign.

It was Levesque himself that started all of this, by an accusation against the library on his Facebook page, and then sending the subsequent email we all received from him, re-stating those accusations.

Blame the candidate and those working for him, not us.

(cue the indignant protestations about 'My Party, Right or Wrong').

Earth to Naran,

Naran is correct. I posted the information because Levesque indicated that he was getting screwed. I thought his conservative supporters might want to know about it. I have no dog in this fight.

Golly... I'm so grateful when a big, strong, smart guy can set "little me" straight.... *sigh*

Earth to Roger - Try reading my post above, again.

I made one public post on the PUBLIC Levesque page of Facebook, asking someone from the campaign to chime in on AMG.

Then I sent a private message (using the private message function) and an email, too.

Buh-bye, now.....

lol

Levesque campaign positioned on a falsehood

Jason Levesque launched his campaign challenging Rep. Michael Michaud for the 2nd Congressional District seat in Auburn last week with smiles and handshakes all around.

Days later, Levesque posted a serious accusation on his Facebook page, claiming a "very liberal" member of the Auburn Public Library's board of directors improperly canceled Levesque's Tuesday campaign appearance ...

The accusation against the library was not fair and not true.

If Levesque refuses to answer to the people now, how will he be if elected? This whole matter has turned me off to Levesque.

I think Levesque owes the library staff an apology, and the people, an explanation and an apology.

No explanation, no vote!

I don't always agree with the Sun Journal, vut lately they've gotten it correct and they hit this one square on the head....time for the party to start looking at other potential candidates for the seat...

Any explanation from Levesque yet?

I went to Levesque's site. All he is doing is attacking Michaud. He says nothing about where he stands. Where is he on gun rights? Where is he on school vouchers? Where is his platform?
