LEVESQUE OUTRAISES MICHAUD IN INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTIONS
MICHAUD RAKES IN 83% OF CONTRIBUTIONS FROM SPECIAL INTERESTS
AUBURN, ME (July 15, 2009) -- Jason J. Levesque, Republican candidate in
Maine‚s 2nd Congressional District, announced that in the first four weeks
that he was running for Congress, he raised $53,954 in total contributions
and has $45,204 cash on hand.
Levesque raised more money in individual contributions than his opponent,
Rep, Mike Michaud. According to reports filed with the Federal Election
Commission for the period of April 1-June 30, 2009, Mike Michaud raised $175,082, of which only $28,932 came from individuals. The rest, $146,149, came from special interest groups.
Jason Lévesque issued the following statement:
"I am proud of our fundraising numbers. In a very short time, we outraised
Mike Michaud in individual contributions. Our success so far shows that
people are tired of the Washington way of doing business. It is disgusting
that 83 percent of Mike Michaud’s contributions come from special
interests. This is why people do not trust politicians. We know who Mike
Michaud REALLY represents in Congress. While people are losing their jobs,
their homes and their retirement, Mike Michaud has shown that he is more
beholden to the special interests than the people of Maine.
"No wonder he jumped so quickly on the national health care option when
you scan his list of contributors and see huge health lobbies giving him
campaign money because his vote will enrich them with government subsidies
at the expense of taxpayers.
"Think of his FEC report as a progress report on Mike Michaud’s job
performance. Not many people in Maine want to give him money to stay in
Washington. The only people who want to keep Mike Michaud in office are
the special interests."
