Lewiston Tax-reform talks called off

Saturday, October 21, 2006
LEWISTON - A plan for a gubernatorial forum devoted to property tax reform and relief for Maine municipalities won't happen - at least not in Lewiston.

The city could never make the schedules among the five candidates work out, according to City Administrator Jim Bennett. With less than a month left before voters will select their governor, there just wasn't time.

I can recall the press conference, full of bravado. We are going to put off the reval and we are going to pull the legislative and governor's race candidates in here and we are going to give them the old what for and they have to help us and then we are going to South Dakota, we are going to Pennsylvania, we are going to Minnesota, yeahhhhhhhhhahhhhhh!
