RamonaHoux -
Fred has been in Japan for the past YEAR!
He should not be allowed to run as his home was not here and he can't know what the people of Brunswick need. An absentee candidate can't represent people in his community.

Mummy is just worried that the challenger during campaign will look better in his samurai garb opposed to Alexs' Aussie hat shorts and those nifty knee socks w. the cuff on top!!!!!

lol.

Laaaadiiiieeess and GEN-tel-men.... Welcome to the Brunswick Dojo to the Death!

In this corner - he's crazy, he's hot - or at least "in heat" - the man for the masses, the workers' friend from Cook's Corner, the Marine who makes love and hates war... from a long line of politicians..... the reigning champ:

Alex "Crocodile" du Houx!

And in this corner - he's lean, he's green, and hasn't yet been caught doing anything obscene, lost the championship by a close decision 2 years ago, and now he's back with a vengance - the challenger:

Fred "Practically, Saving the Planet" Horch!

Geeeettt reeeddddyyyy toooo RUUUMMMBBBLLEEE!!!!!!!

The Bowdoin demo will be 'conflicted.' Alex duh-oux is a grad, but Horch's frau is a prof, and the latter's green credentials (worms, anybody?) trump the former's D/creepy-side strengths.

By the way, does anyone know the details of duh-oux's out of country service dates vis-a-vis his first run for office?

Mumsy seems to think being out of country prior to running disqualifies one for being in the hunt. Is she being a double-standard D, like most of them?

MELVIN ,I do not believe we are talking about nor would it be allowed to be discussing "double D's"!!!
Oh, sorry !

Mel - I would say that Mumsy is indeed, practicing the Double-D with regard to Horch vs. du Houx.

If Horch being in Japan for a year supposedly "disqualifies" him from running, then du Houx being MIA from his legislative seat because of the contretemps with Herbig (and allegedly living out-of-district for a year) should do the same.

Isn't it really embarrassing? A state legislator's mother is defending, guiding, etc. him, from everything to his career to his love life. It is really strange. I've seen politicians before that have strong spouses, etc. but never anything like this. How do people like this ever get elected? Other than voting 100% like he is told to vote, does he have any legislative accomplishments at all?

Apollo on a more serious note, just to ruin this thread not to elevate it, one must understand Brunswick , Maine and to do that for us would be to compare it to Cambridge , Mass , although smaller but of the same vain.

Gone for the most part is the Franco American mill worker influence, the BIW worker influence replaced by dingbats and moonbats ,heavens we probably have even lost our storied inferious clam diggers for the most part.
A small but telling sign was years ago when a Inn owner on Park Row complained about the carnival atmosphere created by the food vendors on the mall. The same one who kept their outside trees lighted after xmas!!!
It is a haven for the likes of Mumsy and Alex!!!

President duh-oux thanks Attorney General Obama for blowing the Dark & Dirty program past the eyes of congress as they head for the Creeps of the Year celebratory dinner.

Mumsy must be very sad today.

Cornell du Houx won't seek re-election

...snip
Democratic Rep. Alex Cornell du Houx confirmed today that he was withdrawing from the District 66 race. Cornell du Houx,...indicated via email that he was stepping aside because he’s been called to active duty in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

...snip
... Cornell du Houx...became involved in an ugly breakup with Rep. Erin Herbig, D-Belfast, earlier this year. The termination of their romantic relationship led Herbig to secure a temporary protection from abuse order against Cornell du Houx. Herbig claimed the Brunswick lawmaker stalked and threatened her.

I could be wrong, but it reads as if he asked to be re-activated. Either way, smartest decision he's made in some time.

Oh, that's right: we're in a massive buildup of active forces; especially favored are those who worked for the Truman Project.

Life is full of surprises, right?

I read a book that said 'rehab is the new prep-school.' Being called back to duty while tarnished for running again seems to fit the mold.

“When Ben Grant revisited a private issue that was made public last May his unprofessional comments reignited false accusations even though I was cleared by the police,” Cornell du Houx wrote Friday.

Maybe I've forgotten something, but this seems like a nice extrapolated spin job. I don't recall any statements by the police clearing him; I recall a comment that they decided not to investigate further.

Am I wrong, or am I wrong?

Ramona, we know you're out there, hon. Please clarify.

Note:
The Brunswick Dem committee will meet at the Band stand on mall.
Stan the man G. will assemble a procession of dignitaries who will March to the shores of Maqouit Bay escorting Alex.(Soon to be Naval Commander of Defense for Cundys Hbr.)
where he will be picked up by landing craft and taken to his new post as local clam diggers stand in formation and salute him.
Mumsy will be of course in tears .
The committee will be relieved.
Ben Grant will be grateful.
The residents will sleep well knowing they are being well taken care of.
Alas there might even be a figure standing alone on the tip of Mere Point watching her sailor boy go off to duty.
I for one cannot wait to hear of his accomplishments on active duty!
Didn't the Marines want him back?

Not yet Calvin, but , there was this rumor about a meeting Ben and Stan had w/ some Island folks (East Harpswell the islands) and hushed conversation
about the stealth lobster boat out of Mackeral Cove and intercepting something!!! There was some mention ,second hand ,of the need to protect the virtue of the women folk in the harbor community.
