As well as it should be

As well as it should be because the federal government is just a big cancerous boil on the ass of progress no matter who sits in the White House.
The plutocracy/bureaucracy has its time and incompetence and they are hammed to expediency. Better to just ignore the tax feeders and take care of yourself by avoiding help from incompetence.

You got a license for THAT?

You are right about that

You are right about that because if he has any response other that that of sympathy for those who lost their lives or their property, he is in violation of the Constitution. If he enforces the unconstitutional national disaster acts he would be in violation of not the law, but the law Congress had no power to enact. Even if it was a state law in Texas, it would be in violation of the Texas constitution.

Unlike Michael Brown (

Unlike Michael Brown (“Brownie” of Katrina fame) who spent the previous 12 years before being appointed to head FEMA as the Judges and Stewards Commissioner for the International Arabian Horse Association the guy now running FEMA, Brock Long, actually has some relevant experience:

Long was an emergency management official in Georgia, where he served as the Statewide Planner/School Safety Coordinator for the Georgia Emergency Management Agency from September 1999 to November 2001. He worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency as Hurricane Program Manager from November 2001 to January 2006. Long was the Southeast Regional Director for Beck Disaster Recovery from February 2007 to February 2008. Long headed the Alabama Emergency Management Agency from 2008 to 2011 under Governor Bob Riley and developed the state's response to the H1N1 influenza. During the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, he was the State Incident Commander for the Alabama Unified Command. In 2011, Long joined the emergency management consulting firm Hagerty Consulting, where he was executive vice president.“

Also keep in mind that the worst part of the storm came ashore in a sparsely populated area 30 miles up the coast from Corpus Christi, not a heavy populated urban center like, say, Miami. From the maps it looks like ground zero was a Nation Wildlife Refuge barrier island...

The President visiting any

The President visiting any area is showboating. In fact, a visit from the President ties up air and ground traffic under the best of circumstances as security will shut everything down. The best thing any President can do is stay away - if that President really wants to help.

I wonder if the news media

I wonder if the news media will applaud if the Mayor of one of the hardest hit towns in Texas stands up and says:

"We as white people, it's time, it's time for us to come together. It's time for us to rebuild a >Insert Large City name here<, the one that should be a vanilla >Insert Large City name here<. And I don't care what people are saying Uptown or wherever they are. This city will be vanilla at the end of the day."

I wonder......

12 rounds? The fight isn't

12 rounds? The fight isn't going to go12 rounds. I'll bet a Mayweather TKO in fewer than 5. McGregor may get a chance to shake him up; he may even knock Mayweather down. They're fighting under boxing, Marquis de Sade, rules and that has to be a colossal advantage to Mayweather, especially in any late rounds.

Oh. Trump? Drudge had a SALON (I think) link 2 days ago stating that Trump had already screwed it up. And he pardoned Arpaio as a deflection.

Welp he lasted 10... I didn't

Welp he lasted 10... I didn't watch the fight but some commenters were saying Mayweather was playing around the first 4 rounds (presumably to make the fight more interesting)...

I watched extended highlights

I watched extended highlights. I was very interested in the fight but there was no way I was giving the domestic abuser a hundred bucks. It wasn't that like mayweather was playing around as much as he didn't want to get caught by a punch that could hurt him. Mcgregor was a better boxer than I thought he'd be, sort of, but after a while you could really see how boxing form allows a fighter to apply power, whereas after a few rounds mcgregor's punches just didn't have much on them. I had hoped mcgregor was going to just maul him the first couple of rounds and try to take him out. But good for him for making it competitive for as long as he did.

And, of course, mayweather would last about as long as Aldo did if the two of them fought under MMA rules.

Matt's analysis:

" . . It wasn't that like mayweather was playing around as much as he didn't want to get caught by a punch that could hurt him . . "

That reflects the consensus . . McGregor had to hurt him early and hard and the bet was, can he do it? Mayweather has a long history of barely getting hit. A good fight from what I saw and the paying public got their money's worth.
