Maine Ahead magazine is now in front of 15,000 Maine executives
New business magazine to be on Maine newsstands statewide by December 7.

BANGOR AND PORTLAND, MAINE – Maine‘s first statewide monthly business magazine arrived in mailboxes this week. Its goal is to improve Maine‘s economy—while providing a provocative and exciting read.
Created by the publishers of Bangor Metro, Real Maine Weddings, Belfast Bay and Beyond, and other publications, Maine Ahead magazine has a unique mission: to provide "business intelligence and inspiration to people in charge."
The premier issue of Maine Ahead features interviews with five of the state‘s six living governors—John Reed, Kenneth Curtis, John McKernan, Angus King, and John Baldacci. In addition, the magazine‘s 84-page January 2010 issue also features an interview with Hannaford CEO Ron Hodge, a photo-driven private tour of Shipyard Brewing Company, opinion pieces on Maine‘s business climate, and articles about the state‘s unique lifestyle.
Maine Ahead magazine will be mailed 10 times a year to approximately 15,000 titled executives throughout the state; it is also sold on newsstands statewide, placed in qualified waiting rooms and available by subscription.
"The mission of our magazine, as the title Maine Ahead implies, is to improve Maine‘s economic vitality and prosperity," says publisher Mark Wellman. "We are not looking for the negative, "gotcha‘ story. Instead, we are seeking and reporting accurate, engaging information that can help create a more positive business environment in Maine."
"Maine Ahead is not in the news business," editor in chief Tori Britton says. "Others are doing that, and we are thankful for what they do. Our focus is on the big picture: uncovering hidden treasures, shedding light on longstanding issues . . . and presenting the information in a way that is a pleasure to read. It‘s not hard to do," she adds, "when you talk to Maine‘s most interesting and energetic people."
"Together, the print and online versions of Maine Ahead have the potential to create a community of Maine‘s best and brightest current and aspiring leaders," Wellman says. "While people may argue about how the state should dispense tax dollars, the fact is, without the creation of wealth through the private sector, there is nothing to pass around. We‘re here to help Maine‘s movers and shakers grow the pie."
A year‘s subscription to Maine Ahead (10 issues) is $29.95. For more information call 207.941.1300, or visit www.maineahead.com
