Gov. bad,standard line of thought.
Legislature bad because the Gov. did not say that just yesterday.
Legislature has had sufficient time to act ,leg. bad.
There was at least twice during Gov. Meatball administartions where this was threatened and Dems .averted shutdown
with R. capitulation on budget.
Please post results of your next local budget and report decrease in taxes.
It does not matter if they do not go up,if to high to begin with.
It all goes back to this,Gov. won office twice .
Although there are several factors involved in this shutdown, one issue seems to be a MAJOR cause... and it involves both democrats and RINOs alike =

Im so embarrassed by our neanderthal governor, when he cant even agree to follow the obvious role model states of Illinois and Connecticut.
Im going to a garden party in Falmouth Foreside this weekend and im sure everyone there will agree with me.
Does it hurt when you stick your tongue in your cheek like that ?
Why in blazes (Jasper, that means fuk where I live just so you understand this posting; we understand you feel more comfortable with 4 letter curse words). Why are you equating Maine with Illinois? Are you NOT aware that Illinois is staring at junk bond credit ratings due to Democratic fiscal management?
Also… it is the house of representatives, representing the will of the people, that determine the fiscal health of the state, NOT the governor. Get with the program!!
Ooooops. Wife just told , me you were joking…that is the reason for the ‘tongue in cheek comment’. My apologies sir. You were being facetious she said. Got it.
Jasper you know what that f-word means right?......Facetious. It has nothing to do with anus fecal stuff. So anyway,
Why don’t you lob one of those curse-ive comments onto this posting?
Without a spending plan, the state has effectively been on autopilot, leaving it with a record $15 billion of unpaid bills as it spent over $6 billion more than it brought in over the past year. The impasse has devastated social-service providers, shuttering services for the homeless, disabled and poor. The lack of state aid has wrecked havoc on universities, putting their accreditation at risk.
My hardened little right wing heart doesn't view a temporary shutdown of state government as the existential threat that Donks and their media enablers are portraying.
Im sorry spider i didnt mean to raise your blood pressure
Its ok Mark….I did that breathing thing they told me to do.
Problem was I was at a rally at the state house Friday and picked up some info that got me going.
See the info below I got from an R house member.
“They continue to hold back funds for those healthcare workers taking care of our most needy, not only that they only funded them for one year.
So why would a responsible person propose to fund healthcare workers taking care of needy citizens for only one year in a two year budget? What is the plan for year 2?
Would you vote in favor of that style of fiscal management?’ Is there more like this in the Dem budget?
Spider. Please let me know when you have learned some rudimentary critical thinking skills.
...and how to spell a four letter word.
Proof of Roger S ' post above is the sun rose this morning !
Really, Spider? That's P-H-U-C-K. Fourr letters; got it?
Chris Christie owns government shutdowns. Search for priceless pictures of a whale on a closed, state beach.
Giverment shut down had a huge impact on average joe and Jane yesterday......plenty were wicked pissed they couldn't buy online lotto tickets or cash their winnahs .......on the other hand I believe plenty of non essential giverment employees got a paid day off.....Mark is right though ,Maine legislators should strive to have 250billion in unfunded pension liability and 15-20 billion unpaid bills like Illinois.......What do you mean we're out of money? there's still checks in the checkbook........
Shutdown is shutdown with lodging tax eliminated from budget.
We can now put that red herring liability thing to rest untill anohter crisis.
Taxfoe:'Really, Spider? That's P-H-U-C-K. Fourr letters; got it?'
Working on it; starting to get it. I will need both of my critical thinking skills to deal with this.
1. PHUCK is four letter word, with 5 letters.
2. Fourr is a four letter word with 5 letters.
There is a pattern in there I think.
The next state budgeting process will take place in two (2) years. Hopefully Governor Mary Mayhew and House speaker Sara Gideon will start early, avoid playing the brinksmanship cards, and provide a budget that avoids a shutdown.
