In Maine, Catching Salmon the Old-Fashioned Way
By NATHANIEL VINTON

LOVELL, Me. "” My father, who paid $6,800 for a single fish recently.

An ordinary, 16-inch landlocked salmon, pulled out of an ordinary lake in western Maine, but it was the first fish my father caught from a special new boat that cost him $6,800....

Like many Maine men, my father is a lifelong devotee of freshwater salmon trolling, and his new boat is perfectly suited for this classic, if somewhat rudimentary, fishing technique.

Don't forget to include a designated driver in your fishing party. It's no longer OK to troll around at +-3kph while sipping frosty (well as cold as the cooler will keep them) adult beverages. With the increase in the number of people on the lake, and the number of camps on shore, you also have to be a lot more carefull about disposing of said beverage than in "the old days".
