Maine People Before Politics Releases People's Report Card

West Enfield - Maine People Before Politics today is releasing to the public their first ever People's Report Card. A report card based on 13 key votes in the 125th Maine Legislature, the People's Report Card is designed to educate the public on the work of their legislators in regard to policies that promote economic growth, reform Maine's regulatory environment, restrain government spending and their willingness to resist the influence of the special interest groups that have long dominated the halls of the Maine State House.

"We're very excited to be able to offer this report card to the public," said Jason Savage, executive director of Maine People Before Politics. "These scores will help the people of Maine bypass all of the white noise surrounding Maine politics and public policy and get right to what's important - how their elected officials have represented them."

The report card scores legislators on a variety of bills critical to economic growth & job creation, red tape reform, controlling state spending and many that were strongly opposed by powerful special interest groups during the 125th Maine Legislature.

Only six legislators scored -0- on the report card, two in the Maine Senate and four in the Maine House. In total, seventy-three legislators scored below -20-, indicating they cast no more than two favorable votes out of thirteen. Of these seventy-three, sixty-one reside in the House, twelve in the Senate.

In contrast, forty-four legislators scored a perfect -100-, five in the Maine Senate and thirty-nine in the Maine House. In total, eighty-eight legislators scored above -80-, indicating they cast at least eleven favorable votes out of thirteen. Of these eighty-eight legislators, seventy reside in the House, eighteen in the Senate.

"Only a few legislators failed to score at least one favorable vote in the People's Report Card," said Savage. "But a significant number demonstrated an unwillingness to work across the aisle on these key issues and instead pander to special interest groups. We've appropriately marked them in the report card to ensure the public is fully aware of their dismal records," said Savage.

The People's Report Card is available on the Maine People Before Politics website at www.MainePeopleBeforePolitics.com

In addition, Maine People Before Politics has provided social media infographics on their Facebook page which can be viewed and shared by the public to inform their friends and family about the voting records of their elected officials. Find Maine People Before Politics on Facebook here.

This is a joke post right? This has to be the most political administration in memory. Pandering to the minority is not people before politics. I have worked for 30 years in State and local Governments and this is by far the most policital Administration in that time period.

Which, being interpreted means "I don't like their politics, so that makes it 'the most political administration ever'."

No, it means that any Administration that places thier philosophy above the majority in such an IN YOUR FACE manner as this, can not cling to the claim of people before politics.
I have worked for R's and D's, with R's, D's and Independants, this is the most immature, vindictave, not ready for prime time Administrations in anyone's memory.
I don't expect the true believers to agree, but, wait and see what the results are on November 6.

Anyone want to get in on the earlier wager regarding the races for the two Congressional seats, as well as the Senate race? JC from Brunswick is the only one willing to take a chance on the Michaud-Raye contest. I am guessing that nobody else is willing to take on the challenge.

First come first served, JC has the Michaud-Raye wager. $25.00 wager for the Pingree-Courtney race, the same goes for the Senate Race. So, less than 7 weeks out, I will also throw in the Legislature as a whole. I predict that both the House and the Senate will go to the D's. First one to accept the wager for $25.00 has the bet.

So that nobody wins or loses, the utltimate winner will be the AMG web-site. For every race that the R's win, I will send $25.00 to Scott. I have already pledged this amount to JC in Brunswick for a breakfast, for the Michaud-Raye race, but it appears that won't be at risk. The 1st District, US Senate and Maine House and Senate are in play.

Line up, I will match the first ones to take the challenge and let Scott know who is in for what so that he will know what to expect from whom once the votes are counted.

Game, set match.

You're on. The bet is both bodies flip to "D," correct? And the $25 goes to AMG?

I'll take your wager, Mike.

We've lowered taxes, reduced regulations, reformed welfare, and made a good start towards cleaning up a terrible mess in Augusta, all the while fighting imported billionaires, and a main stream media that hates us. We've done that while our friends are busy every minute struggling to keep their heads above water in a national economy that's the worst in our lifetime. Our biggest job is to make voters understand the good that we’ve done the last two years, and I think we're up to the task.

Pandering to the minority is not people before politics.

I need to know what this means.
Today in the legislature, the Ds are the minority.
Are you saying that "People Before Politics" is pandering to the Ds?

"No, it means that any Administration that places thier philosophy above the majority in such an IN YOUR FACE manner as this, can not cling to the claim of people before politics."

So, let me get this straight: LaPage runs on a "philosophy", to use your word, gets elected, and then proceeds to enact the philosophy he ran on, and you're saying he's "IN YOUR FACE"? In other words, you're criticizing him for actually doing what he said he'd do, instead of pandering to whatever drifting wind of political convenience happens to be blowing at a given moment?

Sounds to me like my translation of your original words was dead on.

Edit: On reflection, are you sure you didn't mean the Obama administration, and typed :LePage" by mistake? Because, haven't Obama and the Dems done exactly what you accuse LePage of doing? You know, 'Obamacare', etc.?

The 30 year government master would prefer the sneaky, backroom minority policies of the failed Baldacci administration that gave use Paul Violette and Dale McCormick running unfettered fiefdoms over the above-board policies of LePage. I wonder why?

I never would have guessed that MidCoast Mainer lived off the taxpayer, just proves my point that most liberals need the taxpayer to survive. Sunlight is the best disinfectant, unless you are a liberal.

LePage has appointed a bunch of Ds. Baldacci? As for being "vindictive", I'll put Baldacci's actions against Paul's mouth any day.

Mike, you are on. You were the first to take the wager for the Maine House and Senate. Still waiting for the true believers to take the US Senate and 1st District wager. King and Pingree over Summers and Courtney. As long as there are takers, AMG gets the cash.

Only Mike Lange willing to take the bet. JC has the 2nd district race, Mike has the Legislature, nobody willing to risk $25.00 on Courtney? I don't blame anyone, he is a loser, even at a cheap $25.00

If you think you're better off with our bought and paid for Congresswoman Pingree, God help you. You're clearly impervious to mere reason.

In fairness to Pingree, she was a tax-and-spend, command-and-control leftist long before she met her sugar daddy.

That is only because the most important bill to Northern Maine in decades was not included in the list. They will remember in November.

I'm guessing he's referring to the LURC reform bill (LD 1798).

"Remember in November" is a good slogan, but voters have a short attention span. Thus, the popularity of television ads. Thank God for mute buttons.

Roger Ek, I went and looked up the bill you're apparently referring to, as mentioned by someone else on this thread.

If it is in fact LD 1798, "An Act To Reform Land Use Planning in the Unorganized Territory", then there are no roll call votes, it went under the hammer.

Therefore I fail to see how your claim that the higher scoring legislators would have somehow scored lower had LD 1798 been included has any merit whatsoever.

Every single legislator from Northern Maine could have called for a roll call vote. They didn't care, were overjoyed or were too intimidated to call for a recorded vote.

Game. set ....

So far I have JC from Brunswick with a wager for breakfast for the Raye-Michaud race, and Mike L for the Maine Legislature. I am sensing that you have all thrown in the towel on the Courtney-Pingree race. I can't say that I blame you, he is a putz and Chellie would mop the floor with him, regardless of her personal married wealth. But, nobody wiiling to risk that the Ken doll Summers can win?
The irony of this is that AMG is the winner, and all the true beleivers are not willing to give Scott $25.00 in the event the inevitable occurs.

Thanks for not putting my $$ at risk.

Challenge ends tomorrow(9/24) at 6:00am.

You may be wagering money, but I note you're not answering questions or objections. Banking on the observed stupidity of the Maine electorate--voting Democratic again and again like genuine 'mind-numbed robots' -- is not exactly a risky bet. Just like the African-American vote, Democrats can count on Mainers voting for Democrats no matter what damage they do to the State or national economy or social structure, because we're apparently the battered wives of the nation. They make the same promises year after year, and Mainers believe them year after year, and they break all those promises year after year.

A few bullet points

  • A plurality of Maine voters are unenrolled.
  • Legislative candidates seldom put their party affiliation on their campaign literature.
  • Most incumbents are re-elected
  • An even number of Democrats and Republicans in the House are termed out.
  • So based on these facts, I think my bet is safe. The State Senate might flip to the "D" side, but only by a very slim margin.

So as it stands, I have a friendly wager with Mike Lange regarding the Legislature. I will send Scott $25.00 for either or both houses that remain Republican, Mike will do the same for the Democratic takeback.

I bet Summers and Courtney are feeling the love here. At least there was a taker for the Raye-Michaud race. Odd that there were no takers when AMG is the ultimate winner.

The sponsor could have and he didn't. It was going down in flames. There is much more to issues like this than meets the eye. Don't cut your nose off to spite your face.
