Pursuant to a conversation I had with a well-known editor and an all around high mucky-muck, I went looking for pictures of Barbara Boxer, who looks ENTIRELY different these days than she did in her local days, or even when she was in the House. Here are the pictures I found:

With Tony Blair in 2008

1998 with husband and son
With her husband and son, year unknown by me.

Washington Post 2005
2005. (Note: These people LIKE her!)

A recent official Senate picture
Fairly recent official Senate picture.

A picture of her when she was still in the House, I think.
Perhaps around 1992? (This is how she looked when she was in the House.)

1993 or so (?). This is about how she looked when she was elected to the Senate.
And this is what she looked like when she was elected to the Senate in 1993.

(I am still looking for a "pre-nose-job" photo. Will post when I find it.)

I believe the official term for that phenomon is "Blivot" (although I think the official ratio for said Blivotitis is 200 lb in a 100 lb container.) Seriously, she looks like Mrs. Cryptkeeper in a couple of those pics.

Out of idle curiousity, because I'm procrastinating on doing something else....

In the first photo of Mrs. Boxer and Mr. Blair - can anyone make out what that picture is of (the framed one above their heads)?

I can't for the life of me figure it out.
It's bugging me.

Michelle, that ruined my appetite. Why not call this the weight loss thread?

It looks to me to be a Dodger sliding into home plate, but I could be wrong.

I have enlarged it, so you can take a look.

Is she from the LA area?

Nope. The other end of the state. Marin County -- though she recently left Marin for Alameda, which is in the East Bay, consisting of Oakland.

re: sliding

It's a fairly commonly seen picture of Jackie Robinson (Brooklyn Dodgers, 1949) sliding into home:

Wow! I got a sports question semi-right? I feel so...empowered!!

(I would've guessed Sandy Koufax, but fortunately, I did not say so. :) )

Sheesh, good pickup, Punk! OK, so the significance of the pic is the "Color Barrier" angle, rather than "local hero". I thought she and Feinstein were from the same general area of the state, but wasn't sure.

They are from the Bay Area in Northern California.

Feinstein is from San Francisco, and Boxer is from Greenbrae (in Marin County, at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge), though she now lives in Oakland.
