I look at a few social media boards to see what is happening across the country as well as the more focused Maine news found here. The anonymity provided by the internet along with distances between persons fuels unbridled rudeness at times.
I marvel at the seemingly arrogant and nasty tones that find their way into thread responses. It is only human nature that if you are rude to me, I feel obligated to return a biting comment directed back. I would go further to say that I find it disturbing that being rude can actually be fun and personally satisfying at times. We should be able to rise above these base behaviors and remain gentlemen as much as we have the ability to do so.
In order to vent the built up frustrations that seem to be generated, I suggest appointing a committee to organize the first AMG's meet and beat. Somewhere centrally located where we can meet up in a vacant lot or such to limit collateral damage and slap each other silly until frustrations have subsided.
The committee would be responsible for articulating rules, no weapons of mass destruction, etc., contracting with local ambulance and emergency room staff who would be receiving participants, and of course deciding whether or not participants should have their internet name on a displayed tag or if it should just be a free for all.
Many of us have some age on us and perhaps in lieu of a severe beating, may elect to settle our differences in a more diplomatic manner. I don't wish to destroy a perfectly good cane that I would need on the return trip home, likely after being treated and released locally, but that's not important right now.
Any ideas on this proposal?
