Michelle Anderson Podcast: Eliot Cutler, Gubernatorial Candidate, 8/26
Last Thursday, I met with independent candidate Eliot Cutler at Bagel Central in Bangor.
"Well, you know, sovereignty -- no town is sovereign…I come at this in a different way…I don't use buzzwords, I don't like slogans, because they…disguise stuff…In Maine today, towns and cities are really important. They're important to all of us…I want us to be able to govern ourselves in ways that promote and preserve our civic culture and sense of community. But I also want us to do things in Maine -- provide public services in Maine…in ways that are cost-effective. And frankly…if I'm going to pay as a taxpayer in one part of the state the costs of public services…, all over the state of Maine…I have an interest..."

I got three different phone calls yesterday alone about this interview. All of the calls were from regular members of the AMG community, and all expressed opinions about what Eliot Cutler said in the interview.
I don't know why, but it did not occur to me until this morning, but I don't understand why I got phone calls from people who frequently post here.
There are some podcasts that generate posts, and others which generate email and phone calls to me.
I'd be interested to hear what the difference might be.
I was one of those calls to ask Michelle what her impression was of him while he was spinning this story. I find the things this man says so unbelievable I wonder how he has any credibility at all. I wasn't going to post because I thought it would just seem partisan, but why hasn't someone called him on this stuff?
Gerald Weinand called him on it in 2007.

Michelle, Good questions, I shook my head at some of his answers especially the one about Maine pulp wood being shipped to China seemed like he was pandering considering his ties to China. Thanks
