Mr. President, how's Libya working out?

"A U.S. State Department officer was killed in the violence in Benghazi, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a statement late Tuesday."
-- and after "helping" these people, and getting attacked:
"The U.S. Embassy in Cairo announced that it had canceled visa services for Wednesday. It also said in a statement that it "condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims -- as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions."
I personally, criticized this administration's decision to back militant islamist rebels against the government with whom we had concluded a peace treaty. Now, these militants have attacked us for having the first amendment in our own country. We . . . apologize?
The French need to move over. We are the new "cheese eating surrender monkeys". Wherever Mohammar is, he's getting the last laugh.
Secretary of state Clinton is "heartbroken and condemns in the strongest of terms" but we'll just keep pumping money into Egypt and Libya.......somehow thinking that we can buy their loyalty and our safety. When is the government going to get it? These people hate us as they hate all non muslims and only will be satisfied with our domination and destruction.
These people hate us as they hate all non muslims and only will be satisfied with our domination and destruction.
Last I looked the US and NATO is doing most of the domination and destruction. What is Obama the benevolent bomber?
Blowback, how's that destabilization of the middle east working out for the west? ...Waiting for the Blame America First slur......
You expect a Muslim raised President to take action against a Muslim country without first taking a poll to see if it bolsters his re-election?
hahahahahahahahahahahaha
Will our ambassador to Libya straighten this out? Unlikely.
"Ambassador John Christopher Stevens and three Americans were killed during an assault Tuesday on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, the White House says."
......."The Americans were targeted in an attack in their car, trying to move to a safer venue away from the violent protests that erupted at the U.S. Consulate, Reuters reported. Stevens died of suffocation, while the three other personnel were killed by gunshot wounds, CBS News reports"..........
There is plenty of proof, in that part of the world that "savages" cannot govern themselves.
Take away the oil money and these people would be cooking their food over a "dried camel dung" fire.........again!

No wonder Obama won't meet with Bibi.
Probably afraid to upset the peace-lovers in Libya and Egypt - not to mention Iran.
I'd like to know what embassy security measures they had in Egypt and Libya. Do they treat these destabilized countries the same as an embassy in Germany, China or Russia?
Is this where Obama gets a chance to act presidential?

Above link has two photos (graphic warning) of Islamist militants dragging the body of the Libyan Ambassador from the United States through the streets, plus one of the burning vehicle in which he was riding. They also killed two U.S. Marines and another embassy employee. As President Reagan once said, "The bombing begins in ten mintues." And so it should, although this is not the case with our current Occupier in Chief. Embassy or consulate property is considered to be U.S. soil, literally al physical extension of the United States of America.
Today the darling of the Democrats and Liberals and Progressives is headed to Las Vegas to campaign for reelection. A man must have his priorities, correct?
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/09/12/marine-unit-dispatched-to-sec...
This report, from Fox News, says no Marines were killed in the attack, according to the Marines. And it says that the Occupier in Chief has ordered a 50 man Marine "Fast" Team to secure the Benghazi Consulate, where the ambassador and three others were murdered.
The US Marines have a long history on the "Barbary Coast."
The US Marines have a long history on the "Barbary Coast."
Yes, it's the second verse of the Marine Corp Hymn!
"Fast" Team is short for Fleet Anti-Terrorism Strike Team, per Fox News.
Get ready for Muslim Apology Tour 3.0
How's that Arab Spring working out, just the way Glenn Beck said it would.
Is the media questioning how an US embassy can be over run by a bunch of jIhadists without a heavy toll on the Jihadist side?
Where was the security? Did they have 2 aids with handguns there? No contingency of US forces providing security in a war torn destabilized country?
This smacks of total incompetence by the state department or is it worse than that?
We know the saying when seconds count help is minutes away. Apparently when you are in an embassy in Libya, when minutes count, help is a day away.
Give him more time, Mike G . . he just needs more time.
This is "no big deal"; that is the collective message from the media. Make no mistake about it, however: had a Republican been in the White House, you would be seeing a virtual tsunami of stories about this event.........all pointing fingers at the Prez.
As the muslim spring rolls through summer and wanes into fall.
I know that people need a job and all. I get that. But to serve in the diplomatics corps abroad (especially in any dangerous areas) while Obama is President??? I sometimes think that people forget that this is real life we are talking about..........life and death, yada yada yada. And the left also thinks that conservatives are always just blowing smoke to score political points. But this poor, unfortunate ambassador made the decision to go to Libya to work for Obama, a man who is categorically untrustworthy and has no backbone. He paid with his life for that decision, sad to say. But nothing happens in a vacuum, and perhaps he might have seen this coming, had he been a bit less trusting of Obama and his rat pack??
As long as the US and big US/international companies maintain a presence in any country in the muslin Mideast we will be a target of this kind of violence....
When we're gone they will devolve into what they do best fighting among them selves and killing each other. We're not really out of Iraq and look at what's going on there.
Does anyone ever see the muslims coalescing in to a united front ? Energy independence from the mid east and stop shedding American blood for international business interests..... make a plan and get out.
I know someone is going to say that we are fighting a war on terrorism.... and I agree but maybe it's time to change the strategy?
Great questions by Mike G in #18.
The answer is, the US had zero security forces at what was considered an "interim facility."
Ambassador Stevens RIP was a true believer in his diplomatic mission. He was on record as wanting to be posted to Iran should the USA restore diplomatic relations with that country. His superiors left him defenseless in a city known for a strong Al-Qaeda presence.
Remember our ambassador in Saigon during Tet?
Remember when our embassy in Iran was overrun and hostages were taken? We had Marines guarding the embassy with unloaded rifles. The "student" rioters headed to the USSR embassy, but didn't stay there long when the Soviets made it clear they weren't concerned with being nice. Now we have people in a hot spot like this with no Marine guards at all. Since embassies are supposed to be a "safe" place, the rules are that you're supposed to respect them as "sanctuaries. They would compare favorably on an international level with "gun-free zones" within our country. The incredible naivete of the people who draw circles around areas and call them "safe" zones is remarkable for their continued belief in the face of all evidence AND common sense. Insisting on the right to defend yourself is not an act of violence. You can refuse to accept reality, but you can't escape it.
I am with johnw in #24, it is way past time to fold up our tents and get out of that part of the world. They can revert to the "stoneage" lifestyle that many of them seem to prefer.
I have yet to read of any really good reason why we are fighting all of these "undeclared wars" and suffering the loss of thousands of young American lives, for people who turn on us at the drop of a hat.
We had "communism" as the 'boogey man" of my generation, but it looks like that has been replaced by "terrorism" for the current generation.
It is good for the defense business anyway, so it must be good for America! I just have some problems seeing it!
We either ought to go in there and do what is necessary to win this war, even if it includes killing of tens of thousands of people.........or we ought to get out and stay out!
We have fought way too many wars that we were not supposed to actually "win".
WC
Has anyone besides Hillary and the offended members of the 'religion of peace' seen the video?
Woodcanoe.... Those inscrutable orientals...... are so much smarter than us... while the US depletes it's treasure and military defending "oil interests " in the mideast for our "allies" as well as big business.
The Chinese are buying up Canadian oil resources..... in friendly and the key word being friendly Canada..... but we are just so damn slick we won't even open a pipeline when it's right in our back yard.... How many wars are the Chinese, Japanese , Russians or anyone else fighting?? ... I think this is a great example of American exceptualism..yup we're using everything except. common sense.

It will be tough to blame this one on Bush
