Maine tax-limit campaign is back
An anti-tax group hosts a rally in Lewiston to say it will gather signatures for a repeat of TABOR.
By SUSAN M. COVER State House Bureau
LEWISTON - An anti-tax group will launch another (TABOR)...citizen initiative in June. ....voters will be asked to impose tax and expenditure limits on state government.
Former state Rep. Scott Lansley... announced the new effort...at a Tax Day Rally.. Maine Taxpayers United, a group that formed in 2007... hosted the rally and will lead the signature-gathering...for the new citizen initiative.
...snip
(Lansley) .. said ...proposal would move Maine to a "priority-based budgeting" system...defines the essential services of government, requires all state agencies to write a mission statement and implements tax and spending limits ....

TABOR sounded good to me the first two times, and it sounds even better this time*. Given the recession and the revelations of spend-a-holism in Augusta over the last few years, I have a feeling that TABOR will be well-received by more residents than ever.
Thank you, to Maine Taxpayers United, Mary Adams, Scott Lansley, Jack Wibby, and the dedicated MTU team and supporters. It's time.

Note - as indicated below, the actual bill being proposed is Priority Based Budgeting. PBB for short. The TABOR resurrection is the fictional creation of PPH reporter Susan Cover.
